Let’s understand this buying decision in more detail.

Only Owning An EV

Tata Tiago EV

Buying an EV as your first car comes with some challenges of its own. If you only own an EV with a small driving range like the Tata Tiago EV or the Tata Tigor EV, which claim a driving range of up to 315 km, then it would require a good amount of planning. The current infrastructure of electric vehicle chargers and the small driving range would need the owners to take that extra precaution when taking their EVs for a long journey.

Even if you have a car with a range of over 400 km, like the Tata Nexon EV Max, taking a long trip could still be a hassle if you have to wait for an hour on the way to fast charge your car.

But there are some benefits of only owning an EV too. Electric vehicles have a lower maintenance cost and the running cost is cheaper than owning a petrol or diesel-powered vehicle, which means you end up saving a lot of money. Also, since an EV is a greener choice, owning one reduces your carbon footprint.
