The Polo as a car was the most comfortable for my wife amongst the Swift, I20 and a barrage of other cars that she test drove. Full marks to German Engineering. Then comes the pain..... the dealers Elite Motors have taken the notion of associating with themselves as a privilege. You have to even buy the door mats and mud flaps. Somehow I tried to overlook such things and went to the Hosur Road showroom of Elite Motors. Mr. John was kind enough not even to speak a word to me. When I enquired, he gave me a bucket full of attitude. Then some other sales guy called me up and tried to prove a point that their Hosur Road guys are worthless idiots and I should deal with the one in the city (Magrath Road). Delivery period came down from 5 months to 2 months. Somehow during the entire conversation they had the feeling that these guys were doing me a favour. The word German Engineering was fed to me about 50 times as if we do not hear it on TV. Unhealthy starting point. Excellent German car, bad Indian sales guys. Volkswagen should reconsider how they want to get into the Indian car market. After going through all these review comments, I somehow get reminded of some other big names who came into the Indian market to do a favour to us and then somehow fell in line when their sales declined due to the quality of sales and support. I think I just decided not to go for Polo and maybe buy something which lesser mortals can drive. This will be my fourth car in 10 years and I think the Polo will have to wait a bit more.
