Hi, I took a test drive of Nissan Sunny Diesel and found pickup lagging. But once speeds-up its good to drive. I am planning to buy a sedan and am considering Sunny as one option. I have few questions to the users and would appreciate right answers: 1) How is the ground Clearance of XL Diesel. Do you get regular hits on speed breakers like the problem in Honda City? 2)How effective was the AC in peak Summer? 3)What is the average expenses on Servicing after free services i.e. after 40000 Kms and Next 50000 Kms. Any idea 4) How expensive are the spare parts as compared to Maruti Suzuki cars of similar range and how is spare availability. Please reply genuinely as this will help several prospective buyers

Hi , i am a proud owner of Nissan sunny VX diesel since 19 Jan - 12, have driven more then 3 K till today, haven't got any problem till now, GC is no problem for broken roads too, AC is just perfect in summer too, and Back seat cooling is achieved by help of rear seat fan, though the fan are bit noisy but on the first speed it's normal. haven't paid any rupee since i got the delivery from the Nissan dealer till today so no idea of Service charges or expenses yet. TANK TO TANK FUEL AVERAGE i got was 19.8 KM overall on highways and City driving with AC always ON. but the display shows more then 20.5 KM as average the car gives. but i believe that 19.8 IS NOT BAD for such a big car. Power is better then FORD CLASSIC, VERITO, ETIOS, and in line with SX4, definitely lower then RAPID, VERNA and VENTO. Overall experience is great till today.

Hi, I own Sunny XL Diesel for last 25 days.So far driven 700 kms.I found car is value for money in its class. Here follows answers for your questions. 1)Ground clearance is fine.It should be some where between 168 mm to 170 mm eventhough company / dealer has not specified about the same anywhere in the site or promotions.I drive through city, village and highways. But I never experienced ground clearance issue so far.I feel like ground clearance is fine for the car... not too bad not too good. 2) AC is very effective..Not to worry about the same..It has got auto AC..For rear passengers it has got rear fan which sucks air from the front...but it is bit noisy at max speed..Overall A/C is effective.. . 3)I think no one in India can answer your 3rd question..Nissan is giving warranty for 4 years or 80000km (2 2 yrs...including extended warranty which comes along with car when u buy it)..service every 6months or every 10000km..as car is relatively new in market no one might have crossed the warranty period. But What I heard the service cost would be not too expensive not too cheap..they will be charging more than tat of Toyota which is known for its cheapest service and less than that of hyundai/ford service.... 4)spare availabity may not come as an issue i feel..nissan has got its own manufacturing facility in chennai..so dealers can easily get the same from manufacturing location..no need to import the same..only delay could be the transit time between chennai and dealer location if its not readily available with dealer..spare parts could be little more expensive than that of maruti..no of service centers also will be pretty less compared to maruti as nissan is a new entrant in india..But about service charges i should say maruti is also expensive nowadays as i own a maruti car for last 6 years...every 6 months i am expending nothing less than 4k for that car without any extra work..so if nissan can do service for 3 k or 3.5k it will be wondeful and i should say and maruti may have to find alternatives to compete with brands like nissan/toyota... About mileage my car is showing an avearge of 16.5 km/l right now and its ticking up with the odo.. mine is a city /village/highway mixed driving ...i expect some what around 18 to 19 which is pretty decent for a big caaaar like sunny...it should have gone beyond that..thanks to narrow and pathetic roads in kerala.. i am not completely relying on the average the fuel meter is showing..i am calculating it seperately..i will update once the car reaches 2k kilometers.. pick up is okay in its class..as u said a bit lag is there while overtaking and all..but i find lag issue more in fiesta classic and less in toyota etios.. i hope i answered your questions.. revert for any more clarifications.. ebin joseph

which is better etios or sunny????????????

    ebin |20 Jul,2012 02:25:58 PM

etios has got advantages as well as disadvs... I didnt like the interiors of Etios..which is really below average...as you are investing some good amount of money what i feel like keeping apart performance parameters it should have a good look also...there it lacks for etios.. of course engine and service by toyota will be non comparable..running cost also will be less..nissan is also not bad...car price is more or less same for both the cars..may be little less for etios... performance wise both the cars are equally good..service and spare parts toyota have upper hand...fuel economy, car size nissan have upperhand.. etios is coming in as taxis also...but sunny so far not..even i dont think it will come as taxi in future.. after all its ur decision...

I own Sunny Diesel XL for more than 6 months now - have drove around 8500 kms. My daily driving is around 15 kms (to fro home - office) but over the weekends I usually have somewhere to go. Overall I am very satisfied with my experience - nice, spacious, comfortable, interiors are soothing, driving experience is smooth, braking is good, max I have took it to 155 kmph on Taj Expressway and didnt experience any disturbance inside. Being my first diesel car (had Santro earlier), there are definitely few differences but they are not as much as I heard about them from people before getting it. I had some issues related to ground clearance - I live in Gurgaon and speed breakers here are really annoying. Had a word with the dealer and he told me that Nissan did a survey and Sunny has the best ground clearance in its segment but Gurgaon is altogether a different story as the speed breakers here are actually car breakers (and I agree to it). Had my first service 2 weeks back but was not very happy (cost issues) - it costed me 5600 including taxes. I would advice get the company chart of first service from the dealer and strictly follow it - this way it shouldn't exceed 4000. When final bill was delivered to me it had alignment/balancing charges of 800 (I would have got it done in around 400 externally if required) and there was some kind of special lubrication charges of 700. So make sure you discuss these things upfront rather than getting into arguments later. Other than that dealer (Sterling) has been helpful, I have been to workshop on several occasions where i felt something is wrong (purely because of my mistake) and they were happy to help without charging anything extra. FE I am experiencing is around 18 kmpl. Considering most of my driving is city driving and that too in Gurgaon, I would assume, it should touch 20 on highway. In fact, I did experience it few months back when i drove 480 kms (Amritsar to Gurgaon) in Rs. 1000 of fuel. So finally to sum up - I am happy with my decision to go with Sunny and I like driving it - fuel costs dont worry me now as it was the case in Santro :)

Hi I bought nissan sunny diesel on 27th sept . so far I have driven 1500 km. regaring ur query ground clearance is very good. No problem with speed breakers like in Honda city. U can easily pik up from 2 gear after the speed breaker . AC is very good, We hav not tested in summers as we got it recently. But in the mumbai heat also it was very cool inside when we set it on 24 degrees. though it could still go down to 18 degres where it is chilling. And regarding pickup it is excellent after the engine rpm reaches 1200. For over taking there is no need of downshifting most of the time. One of the most spacious car. Though the braking is not as sharp as in hyundai cars but over all it is good and the car is value for money.
