A Dull boring curvy bubblegum car
I head out to check the all new Nissan Micra. The orangey car was standing on the left side of the showroom grabbing the eye balls of all the visitors stepping in. The car is pretty neat and built well. Goodies like Start/Stop button, Automatic AC, Airbags and so on did impress me, well all these on the top-end model though. The boot is pretty decent considering Micra to be a city driven car. A few talks with the onlookers, one word that murmured was that Micra is looking like a Bubblegum. It?s hard for me to believe that when companies like Volkswagen, Ford and Suzuki are getting bolder and brave with their launches like Polo, Figo and Ritz respectively, why would a Japanese auto giant land up in India with such a car. I happen to check Nissan engineer?s statements, they reiterate that they wanted a neutral car that appeals both the male and female buyers, all I wonder is how? Let me put it this way, Renault is a sister company of Nissan, Renault?s small car is Clio. Micra shares its platform with Clio, one look at the Clio 2010 would pop up so many questions as how Micra has been planned using the same platform. Where does Nissan wants to stand considering the price of the car to be starting at 4Lakhs ? 5.5 lakhs(ex-showroom). If it wants to slice a share of its own it needs to really work hard, and with a product like Micra just creating hype but not excitement, I expect the Nissan team to rethink their strategies, as Indian customer counts every rupee he/she spends it?s a hard bargain for Nissan to drag them to buy a product of theirs ?
