Wagon R - My Blue Eyed Boy
Wagon R - My Blue Eyed Boy
I have owned and driven a Maruti Wagon R for the last 18 years. In fact, I learnt how to drive on my own Wagon R which I drove till it crossed more than 1 lakh kilometres. I am a tall person and the Wagon R has fulfilled all my desires about the ideal car. My love for Wagon R started when it was first launched in India in 1998. The tall boy look, the high ceiling, the incredible leg space, the comfortable interiors, the high suspension and amazingly wide angle entry doors, all made the Wagon R the one and only perfect car for me. I used to drive the second generation Wagon R for 10 years till 2012. It was very comfortable to drive, and although we did not have power steering or an audio system, driving through a city without having to worry about flooded streets or potholes or parking spots, who cared about those luxuries when the car that you are driving is fun to own and ride. I presently own the fourth generation Wagon R--my very own blue-eyed boy! The Wagon R's performance, both inside the city and outside it, has been phenomenal. I drive to and fro work every day. I have been through streets where the water logging is up to the door of my car. Miraculously, the car kept going and did not conk in the middle of the road! I have also taken my Wagon R on long drives on the National Highways. The pick up is so smooth, the braking is easy without any screeches or jerking. The fuel efficiency on the highway is anywhere between 17-21 kmpl, which for a car that is 5 years old is very good indeed! I couldn't be happier with the performance of my car. I simply love it. The only change that I made after it had crossed the age of 3 years was to fit alloy wheels which not only made the car look classy but also made sure the fuel efficiency went up along with better road grip and handling. And since I know that my previous car lasted 10 years, I know for sure that this car can easily last me more than that, with a little bit of love and care. To conclude, I'd like to say that the Wagon R is in every way impressive and imposing, a true champion amongst hatchback cars in the market today. The quality of Maruti cars has long been known to be excellent and I think the Wagon R, for me, is at the head of that list as the Number 1 car in all its aspects and the most desirable model. For now, it is the most affordable multi-utility vehicle you'll get out there in the market. Drive one and you'll surely love it! Go ahead, try one!
