Maruti Suzuki Ignis - High on price, low on value

I have been following the Ignis since the time it was unveiled at the Indian Auto Expo last year. The looks were, definitely, tantalising and I was getting curious with each of its details coming out, until the time the prices were announced. I believe the Maruti Ignis price has been kept too high. I was expecting it to fall around the Celerio or WagonR's range.

First of all, it isn't that big in dimensions (almost equivalent to the Kwid), features are also too basic in starting variants and on top of it, the price starts at Rs 4.59 lakh. Why would a sensible person go for this option at this steep price? Instead, he will go for the Figo or the Swift or the Mahindra KUV100.

Maruti might succeed in making the Ignis a hit, courtesy its vast service network, low maintenance and high fuel efficiency. But overall, as a package, the new Maruti kid falls short. If you'll ask me whether it's a value for money product? Definitely, not for me.

I agree, the price tag by Maruti for the IGNIS is far too high when you consider what the car offers - especially for the low end variants. Maruti has disappointed its huge customer base by pricing the IGNIS way too high. I am not still able to understand why someone would want to pay close to 10L for the top end variant. Even the rear seat suspension did not evoke much comfort.

Hello Bejoy, please compare cars of different companies in the same price before posting any comment. Ignis is a complete safety package offering 2 airbags, ABS with EBD, Suzuki TECT body, speed sensing door lock, ISOFIx child anchorage point, etc offering even at the base model Sigma as nowadays safety is a prime concern. Perhaps Ignis is the Only car that passed out quality Crash Test norms. Go through all features in NExA website - nexaexperience.com to learn about IGNIS and surprised

I think Ignis is not only the car who is providing two airbags and ABS in base model, Volkswagen Polo does, Ford Figo also has the same as standard from Ambient (o) at almost similar price and with much better rear looks.

    Completely agree

I completely agree with the cost factor being too high. I was hoping that the top end variant would cost upto 6.5 to 7 lac on road. Plus at least zeta should also have come with DRL and Projector headlights.

I have been using the ignis for my daily travel to office. its easy to drive in traffic specially with the excellent turning radius.mileage is good. safety features equally good. only complain is that the space inside is cramped.

    Harsh |16 May,2017 05:36:03 PM

Hello JITENDRA, Please let us know the average and problem if you get with Ignis.

  • cliff |23 May,2017 09:20:37 AM

The 1.2base version of Figo costs 4.8 ex showroom, the claimed mileage is jus 14, with no airbags, ABS and EBD. The ignis comes with all this as a standard n it has good mileage and it's priced correctly. The swift LXi base version costs 4.9 ex showroom, and this also doesn't come with any safety features. And both Figo n swift comes with R14 tyres but wherein the ignis has R15 tyres and it has good ground clearance. I have driven all the 3 and Figo is good to drive but the base version looks very cheap. Swift has 204ltrs and the Figo has 257ltrs but the ignis has 260ltrs of boot space which is way better than swift. This car is value for money and don't even compare the KUV100 with this. That's the ugliest car on road.

I would like to buy Maruti Ignis Delta model and with the various comment I could understand that it is good for city drive but I could not understand that is it comfortable in long drive of 400 to 500 km journey because of less slanting of rear seat.
