Pros : Pricing, Space, Fuel Efficiency

Cons : Less Powerful Engine, Long Term Reliability

Look and Style: Looks are Ok, though it's always a subjective matter   Comfort: Quite good considering it's smaller than Innova but with almost same wheelbase   Pickup: Ok as of now. But main concern remains ow it will fare will full load of 7 people.   Mileage: Having same 1.3 MJD engine should deliver very good FE figures   Best Features: Space management, though 3rd row seat should have been 50:50 split   Needs to improve: Can't comment as of now but needs to prove itself overtime   Overall Experience It's definitely a VFM car, atleast from the introductory prices as of now. However, the premium for diesel over petrol seems to have gone overboard with MS. They are charging 1.4 lacs premium vis-a-vis petrol/diesel variant, which is a bit too much. Also, since it has a smaller capacity diesel engine (1.3 MJD) so to get power, engine will always need to work extra hard and redline frequently. This might impact overall engine life in long term use. People keep comparing it to Innova which is quite absurd. Innova has proven itself over years and can take on abuse without any complaints. If Ertiga can prove it's reliability and ability to take on abuse (as it being a MUV) then it will be another Swift like success for MS.

i wonder if it is spacious enough as maruti have made the car quite compact. still i dont like the technical aspects as the company has made a lot of compromise to make the car cheap. for example - 1) the engine spec and power are that compared to an hatchback car how can they make an suv with small car specifications. 2) what maruti has done is made a car in between suv and a sedan, gave a new name luv and made it cheap to increase sales looks to me as a deceptive strategy. 3) low safety features are another concern. Just like the new dzire destroys the purpose of a sedan i.e. legroom and boot capacity, similarly ertiga destroys the purpose of a real suv bcoz of small car specs. all maruti have managed here is to cut down their own cost and sale the car as a deception.

I agree with you somewhat. it's neither a sedan nor a proper muv. but as they say being a maruti it will sell. i am still unable to digest how come so many swifts are able to sell when it has nothing extraordinary to offer. none of the maruti cars are good looking and this is no exception. price and FE engines are 2 things on which maruti survives. To me, i would summarize it as a confused product to be bought by confused people who don't know whether they need a sedan or a proper muv. No offence meant to LUV luvers here...
