Hi I own a Alto K10 purchased 6 months back and it's an absolutely perfect first car own. Being an entry level hatchback, I expected a lot of compromises but the car has been a utter delight. Here goes my review. Engine & Transmission- It is a 1.0 litre 3 cylinder petrol engine which has been tuned by Maruti from the earlier version engine and it is superbly refined and peppy. And boy! it loves to rev. The major torque is delivered from 2000 rpm and there is a sudden burst of torque which one you get used is an absolute joy to drive (helps in tricky overtaking situation). Transmission is 5 speed manual transmission which is very smooth with a light clutch. Handling- The steering is a electronically assisted power steering which handles smoothly which is good enough. Brakes are very good. Suspension-Softly sprung and is very suitable for Indian road condition though in large potholes it tend to crash. Interior- Maruti has done a big revamp in the latest version with 2 tone beige interior, chrome lining & piano finish. The plastic quality is up to the mark at this category and looks good. One of the major surprises is the quality of the music system which is superb and can rival many of it 's big brother. The seats are ok and nothing much to talk about. The space at the front is ok with good driving position but cramped at the rear. The AC is very powerful at works well in Indian condition. Styling- The front styling is major revamp from the earlier version with and the back-lights has gone major change. Just compare with old Alto one will understand the differences. Mileage- The car has run for 3200 Km and it gives 13 kmpl with AC on and 17 kmpl in highway which should improve with 3rd service. Service- I don't think Maruti needs a review on this. Conclusion- The best first car one can have.
