Hyundai Ioniq A Glimpse of Future
Hyundai Ioniq A Glimpse of Future
Koreans are always ahead in technologies. Hyundai has showcased its future vehicles for the Indian market in the Auto Expo. India is in dire need of electric and hybrid vehicles looking at the skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel in the country and I saw this initiative from Hyundai a big leap forward. Hyundai Ioniq would certainly a big launch of future and set an example of the Korean expertise if Hyundai plans to bring this car in the country. The car comes in both hybrid and electric variants. The electric one derives its power from the 28 kWh lithium-ion battery which produces 120 HP and provides hassle-free driving up to 280 kms on full charge. The hybrid one packs 1.56 kWh lithium-ion battery and the 1.6-litre petrol motor to give the total output of 139 hp. Personally, I am a big fan of Hyundai’s fluidic design philosophy and the same can be seen in the form of swooping pillar and how neatly front and rear are finished. Interiors are nothing short of extraordinary as the car features TFT instrument cluster, wireless charging for smartphones, touchscreen infotainment system powered by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a whole range of safety package. Though on paper, Hyundai Ioniq looks promising, we can’t expect this car rolling on our streets before 2019.
