I love this car. Few things which I loved in this car as follows,

Pros - Extremely comfortable on highway and for city ride, decently spaced for 5, stunning looks, powerful engine (6 speed MT is very good on  highways but in cities I don't feel 6 speed is usable)  and overtaking other cars can be just like that, nice and luxurious interior, loaded with all features you need(in Asta model), good fuel efficient car(city 17, highway 20) with AC

Cons - Suspension is so smooth so that you may hear a bang sound while taking a big potholes, average fuel indicator is missing, you may feel the ground clearance is too low while the car is fully loaded and while you take sharp speed bump(but the ground clearance of 165mm is really good at high speeds and you cruise on highway with confidence), horn sound could be better well nothing is perfect in this world.

Overall this car is really cool. People who love comfort, top speed, fuel efficient, looks, and features will love this car. If you are looking for economy, less comfort, low price car then please don't have this car in your options list as you may feel it's too expensive.  I just love this car. It's really that good.

I AM USING SANTRO AND DRIVE ABOUT 1500000KMS IN ABOUT 10 YEARS. IS IT WORTH TO GO FOR DIESEL CAR FOR ME WITH THIS USAGE WHICH IS MAX. WILL ANYBODY MAY ADVICE ME AT 09711995220 TO CHOOSE BETWEEN PETROL/DIESEL TO SAVE MY HARD EARNED MONEY. OR ANYBODY WISH TO SELL HIS USED CAR. I AM IN 52 YEARS OLD.

Of course you may go for Diesel car since you are doing 1.5L km per year. And you sounded like you use your car for long run. So no doubt, Buying a Diesel powered car is worth to you. Please feel free to ask any think you like to know about cars.

Good review. Have similar experience - been using it for past 1 year and had many long drives with family and found overall experience similar to Opel Astra - powerful, sturdy, gives confidence on the highways even on high speed and Very comfortable. Cons - I have experience some blind spots which might be in comparison to Innova, my other vehicle. One BIG negative is overtaking at low RPM - should improve turbo activation. Few things which could have made it better - hand rest for the front seats, fog light as in-built feature or atleast add-on at a reasonable price and getting away with unnecessarry irritants like some of the models bumper not having fog lamp fixtures, not having rear wiper option in sportz model. Otherwise - uncomparable with any other competitors (swift,fabia...), but looking at higher price its not justified also :).

I agree with you sachin :-) About the blind spots and features in mid version, they could have added some more. The main reason I gone for Asta is for features. And about the turbo issue. I dont know which model you have. Is it 6 speed gearbox? What I felt is, in 6 MT has better gear ratios than the 5 MT. And of course in Diesel car we need exact gear shift. So if u r doing around 40 to 60 kmph in 4th gear and rpm around 1200 to 1700 then you may feel its not responding as we expect. When ever I overtake, I keep the rpm around 1800 to 2100 which has extremely pulling power. Because the turbo starts only after 1800 - 1900 rpm. If you are in this rpm and at correct gear then its a killer ;-) According my guess, at 1st gear - it can do around 30kmph, 2nd - 60 kmph, 3rd- 90 kmph, 4th - 120 kmph and so on. The top speed which I tried is around 170 kmph at bangalore highway. but some one has done around 184 kmph(saw it on youtube video).
