I was planning to buy a premium hatchback for myself recently. My major requirements were spacious cabin with rear seat comfortably absorbing 3 adult passengers along with comfort of automatic. After a lot of research, I shortlisted Honda Jazz CVT but the only cause of concern that is refraining me from buying this car is the low sales figures. Looking at the dwindling sales despite the recent facelift launch in 2018 has raised eyebrows that the carmaker might discontinue the car in coming years. The company did the same with the Mobilio MPV which was discontinued in mid-2017. I really admire Honda Jazz, the sporty styling and the huge imprint of Honda City it takes makes it a really adorable car. With sleek styling in the form of the blackened grille with chrome, wraparound headlamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, and Volvo styled LED tail lamps, it really steals the show outside. interiors are also topnotch with the car getting 7-inch touchscreen known Digipad. The unit is powered by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with connectivity options including navigation, Bluetooth, USB, and Aux-In. The car also comes with automatic climate control, cruise control, electrically folding ORVM, height adjustable driver and engine start/stop button. However, it misses on some vitals including rear ac vents and projector headlamps. However, it is the only car in its segment to get paddle shifters. Another area where this car shines is the 1.2-liter tried and tested petrol engine which not only offers fun-to-drive performance but also frugal when it comes to consuming fuel. The petrol powered CVT version which I am planning to purchase can deliver 19 KMPL. As per the online reviews, the comfort and ride quality is absolutely bliss in this car, as against the counterparts. The question remains, what would be the future of Honda Jazz? Will Honda discontinue it looking at the dwindling sales? Baleno has also played spoilsport right to some extent. As of now, I have postponed my plans for buying Jazz and waiting for some other inputs from my friends. I hope Honda will take some serious step in giving the car much-needed update, else the company had to say goodbye to this car just four years after its re-launch.
