Pros : Good interior features, fairly comfortable
Cons : Same old looks of the Jazz, 1.5 Lt engine
Look and Style - Take 2 Honda Jazz. Cut one in half and add it to the other. There's your Honda Freed. From what i can make out, the looks are exceedingly similar to the Jazz with the only difference being a slightly elongated rear. So not much else is new in the Honda Freed in the looks department. Comfort - Considering the Honda Freed comes in 7 and 8 seater variants i would say comfort is something that would be high on the Honda list of priorities. From what i've seen and read the general consensus seems to be that this car will be the the motherlode of all comfort MPV's. And with features like front and rear AC, AC vents, front and rear music system and music controls embedded onto the steering wheel, the comfort levels would definetly be worthwhile. Pickup - With a proposed 1.5 Lt. iVTEC engine the power and pickup would be understandably low. This however shouldn't bother your average India consumer as they live for the mileage more then anything else. But with an expected BHP of 118 @ 6600 Rpm and 146 Nm of torque @ 4800 Rpm its definetly a decent enough output for a car of this size. Mileage - Honda India is yet to release an expected mileage, however my estimate based on the Honda Jazz (Since its built off the Jazz platform) would be around 14-16 Kmpl. We'll just have to wait and see what it actually delivers. Best Features - Definitely the interior features. Since its been fitted with a variety of features for an enhanced driving experience, the comfort level of this car would easily top out the rest of the features it has to offer. Needs to improve - Looks and a bigger engine. The look is that of the same tired old Jazz with little added to the looks. And a 1.5 Lt engine for a 7-8 seater is definetly not one i would reccomend. Overall Experience - We'll just have to wait and see wont we? However i can safetly say the Honda Freed jsut might give the current top MPV's a run for their money.
