Ford Freestyle A Solid Rival To Hyundai i20 Active
Ford Freestyle A Solid Rival To Hyundai i20 Active
Crossovers based hatchbacks are an interesting creation as they offer the compactness of the hatchbacks and ruggedness of SUVs. In recent times, the penchant for crossovers has increased substantially and to magnify the liking for these vehicles, Ford is also joining the bandwagon with its Freestyle crossover. The design is not a complete hop-up of Figo hatchback. The front fascia does resemble the hatchback version, but the difference in detailing of the headlights and the sports mesh on the grille can be clearly seen. Other distinction comes in the form of angularly shaped fog lamp enclosure and revamped bumper design. The crossover aspects can be noticed with faux skid plates at front and the rear, flared wheel arches and black plastic cladding all around. The car also gets new 15-inch alloy wheels and of course, roof rails at the top. Inside, the environment is pretty much like Ford Aspire but there is uniqueness. Ford has given a chocolaty-black colour theme to the cabin while the center console has been restyled to make space for the new 6.5inch touchscreen infotainment. Powered by Ford?s latest SYNC 3 technology, the slick touchscreen unit also supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car also comes with a host of features including 2 USB ports at front, auto headlamps, automatic climate control, keyless entry and go, rain sensing wipers and Ford?s MyKey that allows the driver to set speed limits and seatbelt warnings. The car is powered by an all-new 1.2L Dragon series petrol engine that produces 96PS and 120Nm of torque, mated to 5-speed manual transmission. Ford claims it?s the highest output for a 1.2L engine in India. Ford has filled the car up to the brim to bring it in line with the competition. Hyundai i20 Active is the only rival of Ford Freestyle that is able to give it a tight noose competition. Rest, Honda?s WR-V is also a viable option when it comes to choosing stylish crossover in the segment. On paper, the Freestyle looks a solid car and given the performance factor which the Ford cars are known for, Freestyle will really shake up the segment.
