Figo...The cool car

I have a 10 year old M800 which was in need of an upgrade. The requirements were a car which is comfortable enough for 4 to 5 people, should have enuf space, acceptable fuel economy and easy to maintain, and should not exceed 5 lakhs on the road. Did not check diesel as my monthly running would be less than 1000 Kms. Checked out the Polo, i10, WagonR, Figo, Vista, Ritz, punto and to some extent the getz. santro and Alto were not considered as they were small cars nad we wanted something bigger. Getz was the first to go as it was discontinued. Else it was a great package. Ritz was next as no one realy liked the boomaranged tail lamp cluster. Vista was the next in line as it did not appeal to my wife and me-I did not like the speedo at the center.Punto did not have an airy ambience and looked congested. There...the axe fell on the Punto. So we had the Polo, Figo, i10 nd the WagonR. The latter two were rejected as they were tall boys and I did not like the ride of the same. Remained the Polo and the Figo. Looks wise both were given thumbs up. Though in the Figo, the rear portion could have been better. I read reviews that the rear leg room in the Polo was comparable only to the Swift. That along with the fact that it was a 3 cylinder engine, high cost of spares and infinite waiting period tilted the balance in favor of the figo. Over all its a great car. Lots of space, its comfortable and handling is amongst the best. It really gives you a big car feel that is just not possible with the tall boys. I have driven the car for 600 + Kms till date, not once have I felt it to be unsafe or uncomfortable. One more doubt I had was that of the performance of the engine. I had read lot of reviews and all had said the same thing - power is just inadequate. Well, to be really frank, you do feel the lack of power when you are overtaking that too with the A/C on. But put off the A/c, it is quite good. Once the needle crosses 3000 rpm, the real power delivery starts. Work through the gears and you will not feel the lack in power. Only grouse is that it should had been more fuel efficient. Though I am getting around 12 kmpl with the A/c ON. So is this a good car?? Am I satisfied with it?? A big Y-E-S. yes, there could have been more improvements, like the quality of the materials used in some places, No True Top end version with rear power Windows, Steering adjustment for rake and reach, Rear Windows coming down to only 60% of their total length, but over all, this car is a great package. Add to that the killer pricing of the car. All this makes this car just irresistable. Kudos Ford for giving us such a wonderful package.
