Hi, I have just booked a Go + ( T trim ). The car is by and large similar to the Go Hatch with an extended rear end to cater to the additional row of seat. Let us go segment wise.
1 Exterior - The car is identical upto the C pillar where it is stretched for the additional Plus you get. The extension is nice and does not appear as just an addition of extra boot to the end. The Front grill is decent and gives nice appeal to the car. Roof is nicely sloping which gives that MPV feel. The swept back headlamps not only add to the looks of the car but also do a very good job at nights.2 Ride & Handling - The car has very good ride quality ( best in the segment I would say ) and the suspensions really soak the bumps well which are there aplenty on Indian roads. The car is stable and looks planted on a straight line with smart steering wheel which even though is electronic becomes tight at high speeds. The car however has a significant body roll if you decide to throw around the corners. Thanks to the small 13' baby wheels you dont get confidence at high speed corners.
The road noise is quite prominent and you can feel each pebble the wheels interact with on the roads.
3 Engine & Performance - The Go + gets the same power mill of the hatch however the car is tuned differently to cater to the additional pay load the car is designed to carry. The car has nice torque spread even at low ends and does not feel under powered. Car can clock 140 km/hr easily and returns a decent mileage of around 12-14 km/ltr in city and 16-19 on the highways.
4 Features - There is a clear cost cutting here from Datsun. There are many basic features which are also lacking in this car. The front left power window can not be accessed from the driver's end, mirrors even on the top trim can not be internally adjusted , the left front door does not have external lock , seat belts are manually adjustable.
To add to some positives here , the smart mobile docking system does a good job if your purpose is just to have some light music and the mobile holder also can be handy while using GPS.
5 Practicality - The Go + definitely adds a lot of practicality as the additional + does not cost too much extra. The third row can accommodate additional two people ( real small ones ) if you just want to use it as people mover or just fold the rear seat ( more recommended ) and you get a large boot at your disposal.
Verdict : The car surely can create a new segment of Compact MPV if Datsun adds some additional features ( with extra cost ) at least on a top trim. Overall the car is good for what one pays for and with the Japanese standards of reliability it should work well in Indian markets. Its just that Datsun needs to add that X factor for people who consider safety and would like to have some extra features ( the ones mentioned in Features section ) to make this car more attractive to consider.
