Pros : PERFORMANCE, LOW ENGINE NOISE, Economy, Interiors and Exterior

Cons : hard to point

Look and Style: I think this is one of the best looking cars in its class, I actually wonder whether there is any competition from the nearest competitors such as the i10 or the Suzuki. I continue to get additional eye contacts from people from all ages and class....

Comfort: Brilliant...looks like a small car and has the space of a saloon car (may be a slight exaggeration) but. I actually two 6 ft plus people sitting at the back who said that they had ample space to move around :) The codriver's seat too is also very spacious. This is a testimony to show how the American site likes to concentrate on comfort.

Pickup : It has a very respectable pickup. Although, the pick up did stall a little when the air conditioning is switched on. But a slight calibration to the electronics..and lo behold the pick up improved with the air conditioning on.

Mileage : Well, I think this is a place where the people at Chevrolet have excelled. It gives a good economy, but as most cars, mileage depends on the traffic conditions and the driving capabilities of the driver. I think I get around 13 in the city and around 18 on the highway which is pretty impressive.

Best Features: Hands down the best looker in its class...no competition from i10 or the Suzuki Ritz...

Needs to Improve: very less...

Overall Experience: I just love this car and I am waiting to take it on a long drive...using the cricket metaphor.. a great 20/20 player...and a one day player..but to test the fundamentals...need to play a test match (longer version)....to finally comment.

Beat milage is very poor only 10 km per ltr with AC 50:50 city highway thats the reason sales is coming down moth on month

    Harish |27 May,2011 10:24:38 AM

Dear Subin, Well, I would not want to antagonise you but I think it would be best to take the Beat to the dealer and ask him to calibrate the electronics and you could see a marked change. Further, mileage also depends on the type of driving and the roads and the traffic conditions. I think the mileage coming down on account of using AC is a feature prevalent on all the cars (at least on this class). I am sure you do make a valid point too.

Hmm, never wondered whether the review would evoke this many comments. Dr. Haresh, I wasn't trying to be antagonistic to your Ritz, which I am sure is a wonderful car in its own right and the cherry on the top would be your wonderful driving ability. I am simply making a review of the Chevy BEAT, which according to me..and in my humble opinion is an excellent automobile as it scores well in all aspects. The 'PERFECT' car is still a myth and with the options that are available in the market, in its class, I felt that the BEAT was better than the rest..and my decision was correct having driven it for almost 6000 kms...in just 6 months.

I bought a Beat yesterday after doing much research & test driving the beat in various conditions. In my view, barring the pick up (while a/c is on)all other aspects are quite OK .The pick up is above average but not great.. It is value for money vehicle for sure.

    Harish Putti |05 Jun,2011 11:05:05 PM

Hi Mukul, wish you all the very best with your BEat..the Beat responds impeccably after the first service. Be sure to tell them to calibrate the electronics after the second service to make sure mileage is not compromised vis-a-vis performance.

    Sagar |06 Jun,2011 06:51:16 PM

I agreed after second service my Beat becomes much more smoother... Day by day this car is becoming awesome experience for me... its pickup now is excellent and averaging above 20kmpl on highway believe me recently tested for 1000kms Pickup wise I could beat rivals like swift, ritz and i10 on express way Its truly drivers car... after CRUZE ;)
