The motor is good for 58.5 PS and 150 Nm of torque. At the Auto Expo this year, GM India launched the refreshed Beat which saw minor cosmetic changes. The Beat is perhaps one of the more unique looking hatchbacks in the country. It has got sharp lines and a very nice looking front section that consists of a large grille and bumper as well as large swooping headlamps. There are also roof rails, fog lights, unique rear door handles and a nice rear section with good looking tail lights. It does have a sort of sporty characteristic.The Beat comes with a 936cc diesel engine that can produce 62bhp and 160Nm. We drove the petrol 1199cc engine that can deliver 82bhp and 108Nm of torque. The engine is well built and quite well refined as well. The engine is then mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.The Beat is a good car but not he best performer in its segment. The engine does not deliver the power at the right rpms and the car struggles to pick up speed. On the highway it is also not the best performer, but in the city it does its job well. The car handles very well and the steering is also quite good. The suspension setup is also tuned for city streets and is not too soft. Overall the ride quality is decent at best. There is no body roll and the brakes do their job just fine.This is a very stylish looking car with a good interior setup. The mileage is great and the interiors are sporty and comfortable. However we would recommend you go for the diesel variant because that engine is very well refined, or check out the Hyundai i10 and Honda Brio.
