Bolero 2011-2019 Plus - Non-AC BSIII Review
Mahindra Bolero is one of the bestselling SUV in the Indian car market, which is available in several trim levels. Mahindra Bolero Plus Non AC BSIII is the mid range variant in its model line up. Its braking and suspension mechanism are quite proficient, which keeps it well balanced on any road conditions. The front and rear wheels are fitted with a set of disc and drum brakes respectively. Meanwhile, the front axle are assembled with an independent type of system with coil spring, whereas the rear gets parabolic leaf spring. The company is selling this SUV in quite a few exterior paint options, which are Rocky Beige, Java Brown, Fiery Black, Toreador Red and a Diamond White metallic finish for the customers to pick from. This variant is equipped with a 2.5-litre diesel power plant, which can displace 2523cc. It is cleverly mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which sends the engine power to its front wheels. It is designed with an overall length of 4221mm along with a decent height of 1910mm and a total width of 1745mm, which includes external rear view mirrors. This SUV comes with a large wheelbase of 2794mm that ensures a spacious cabin inside. It has a decent ground clearance, which measures about 195mm and has the ability to deal with terrains.
Exteriors:
To begin with the frontage, it is designed with a massive radiator grille, which is fitted with a few body colored slats and a prominent chrome plated logo in the center. This grille is surrounded by hawk eye styled headlight cluster that is powered by high intensity halogen lamps and turn indicator . It has a black colored bumper, which is incorporated with a wide air dam for cooling the powerful diesel engine quickly. The large windscreen is made of toughened glass and is integrated with a pair of intermittent wipers. Coming to its side profile, it comes with neatly carved wheel arches that have been equipped with a robust set of 16 inch steel wheels with full wheel caps. These rims are further covered with 185/75 R16 sized radial tubeless tyres. The door handles and external rear view mirrors are painted in black color. On the other hand, the rear end is designed with black colored bumper, a large windscreen with a high mounted brake light and a bright tail light cluster, which gives the SUV a complete look.
Interiors:
The company has bestowed the internal cabin with a lot of utility based features, which gives the occupants a convenient driving experience. These are cup and bottle holders on center console, front seat back pockets for storing magazines and other smaller things at hand and storage spaces in center console. The spacious internal cabin is incorporated with well cushioned seats, which are covered with fabric upholstery. These provide ample leg space for all passengers and are integrated with adjustable headrest . The dual tone dashboard is equipped with a few features like a voluminous glove box, a three spoke steering wheel with company logo in the center and an advanced digital display for the convenience of the driver. It has a couple of 12V power socket in first and middle rows for charging mobiles and other electronic devices. Apart from these, it also has body colored inside door handles, easy access parking brake lever and an instrument panel, which is incorporated with a low fuel warning light, driver seat belt warning notification and a multi-tripmeter.
Engine and Performance:
This Mahindra Bolero Plus Non AC BSIII variant is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel power plant, which has the ability to displace 2523cc. It is cleverly mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box that allows the SUV to achieve a top speed between 120 to 130 Kmph. At the same time, it can accelerate from zero to 100 Kmph in close to 25.6 seconds. This diesel mill has the ability to churn out a maximum power output of 63bhp at 3200rpm along with 180Nm of peak torque between 1440 to 1500rpm. It is incorporated with a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system that enhances its fuel efficiency. When this SUV is driven in the city traffic conditions, it gives 9.4 Kmpl, while on the bigger roads it goes up to 13.6 Kmpl.
Braking and Handling:
The rack and pinion based power steering system comes with tilt adjustable function, which is quite responsive and makes handling easier even in heavy traffic conditions. This steering wheel supports a minimum turning radius of 5.8 meters, which is rather good for this class. The front axle of this utility vehicle is fitted with an independent suspension mechanism, which is further assisted by coil spring and anti roll bar. Whereas, the rear axle is equipped with an elliptical leaf spring type of system. On the other hand, the front wheels are equipped with a set of disc brakes, while the rear wheels are assembled with solid drum brakes as well.
Comfort Features:
The company has incorporated this trim with a number of safety aspects, which includes a power steering with tilt adjustable function, height adjustable driver seat, front power windows, an advanced digital display and quite a few utility based aspects as well. Then integrated music system is equipped with CD/MP3 player, radio with AM/FM tuner along with two speakers . Apart from these, it is also equipped with comfortable seats, low fuel warning light, a glove compartment for keeping some smaller things at hand and so on.
Safety Features:
This Mahindra Bolero Plus Non AC BSIII comes with a rigid body structure, which also has side and front impact beams. It provides extra safety to the occupants sitting inside the cabin in case of collision. Apart from these, it is equipped with quite a few aspects like seat belts for all passengers, adjustable driver seat, a centrally mounted fuel tank, a high mounted brake light, halogen headlamps and large front windscreen with a pair of intermittent wipers.
Pros:
