In the backdrop of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order to ban diesel vehicles over 10 years old and petrol vehicles over 15 years old to run on the streets in Delhi and NCR, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) issued guidelines to stop re-registration of such vehicles on Monday. This is the first step taken by RTO authorities to restrict the driving of such vehicles on city roads. Even if the vehicles get a no objection certificate (NOC) from some other state, they will not be registered in the city. This order will apply to cities, like Gurgaon, Faridabad, Sonepat and Jhajjar that fall under the territorial range of the NCR.

Hence, we do not recommend to purchase a used petrol car which is more than 10 years old.
