Bought a RXL diesel Duster 10days back. The mileage, which is claimed to be 19 kms/l is only around 12kms/l. I checked up with the dealer for which i was told that it can be tuned up when it is brought for service after 2000 kms.
I am now wondering whether to drive till 2000 kms at the consumption rate of 12kms/l. I bought this car mainly because it is from the SUV segment and its mileage claimed is awesome as an SUV
The mileage of the car depends on various factors like your driving style, roads, traffic etc. The city mileage of the car is relatively low than the claimed figure and as your car is new, we will advise you to run it upto 50-60 kmph only because your car is in engine break-in period. Your dealer is right, once after 2000 kms you will notice an increase in the mileage.
The petrol variants of Duster and Terrano return a low mileage of around 12-13 kmpl, therefore it is advisable to go with diesel variants. Also, the K9K diesel engine performs better than the 1.6-litre petrol engine.
The procedure of procuring the keys for Renault Duster is a lengthy one. You would have to place a request with Renault service center. A technician would come to your place and unlock the steering and tow it to the service center. Your old lock would be replaced with a new one and new keys would come in 15 days. The cost of the keys would be Rs 4,500 per key. You would also have to take your RC booklet and Insurance papers to your service center.
