Why is Renault Kwid so light weight? The kerb weight of cars in the segment are Renault Kwid (699Kg) Maruthi Alto 800 LXi(720Kg) Tata GenX Nano XM(725Kg ) Datsun Go D(769Kg) Hyundai Eon D-Lite(715Kg) Chevrolet Spark(840Kg) Tata Tiago(930Kg) Does it mean in Kwid quality is compromised? It looks great, but is it reliable, safe in the long run.
The kerb weight of Renault Kwid is less because weight reduction has been achieved by innovative means like three bolts on each wheel instead of the usual four and a single windshield wiper, a reduction of about 14 kg from wiring clips and bindings throughout the car and a lightweight all-aluminium engine. Further, to reduce the weight, the wing mirrors are finished in plastic.
All this results to make the car affordable and in addition to this - It helped Kwid to become India's most fuel efficient car, with ARAI certified fuel efficiency being 25.17 kmpl. But, the low weight does not result in a loss of the torsional rigidity of the car and the Kwid has an upper hand in safety department, as it is offered with an optional airbag on the driver's side for the top end variant.
Hello, it is great that you wish to buy a new car and we are happy to be a part of your new car purchase. Our experts drove Baleno and nothing of this sort was reported by them. There is no issue in the rear suspension and the ample leg room and shoulder room offered at the rear is pretty comfortable for 3 passengers. Rest, if you are getting skeptical about the decision, we would suggest you to go for a test drive as that would clear all your confusion. You can go though our review by clicking here.
i am confused while purchasing best mileage car for silent performance and excellent handling. tiago has sound disturbance at high speed, grand i10 is quite expensive, punto has less mileage, celerio has less torque and power
Hey, its great that you are planning to buy a new car and the options that you have shortlisted are doing good in the market. We appreciate your choice.
Now, as per your requirements, the shortlisted cars are decent options and your observations are right on that part. Yes, the Tiago has an issue with the cabin / engine noise but it is quite budget friendly and provides a decent mileage too.
Grand i10 is a good option here to pick. Assuming that you are looking for a petrol vehicle, Grand i10 delivers a good mileage as well as the driving is also very smooth. Rest, as you have already taken a test drive of all the vehicles, so, it will be quite easier for you to pick the best out of them.
If budget is not the main concern, then we recommend that you stick to Grand i10 here else, go ahead for Tata Tiago. Please click here to check the detailed comparison of these cars. Please select the requried model from the drop down list.
