We are glad to know that you wish to buy a new car, as per the situation here, you should go for a petrol car as a diesel car has to be driven on a daily basis, if you buy a diesel car and leave it untouched even for a month, it would cost you a lot of money to get it in working condition. Thus, buying a petrol car would be the best here. You can also give us a call on our toll free number 1800-200-3000 (Mon to Fri, 10AM to 7PM) to buy your new car.

Thank you for considering us worthy enough to address your concern & writing to us.

It's good to hear that you wish to buy a car & thank you for making us a part of it.

It is indeed a good budget for the new car & there are ample of options available in this price range like Ford Ecosport, Hyundai Verna, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Ciaz etc.

You may also apply filters to refine your search and can shortlist some of the options from the lot. Do let us know the hand-picked options so that we can help you to choose one.

As new car purchase would depend on a lot of factors like budget, segment or brand preference, transmission, fuel type, specific feature requirement etc.
Hence, we request you to share your inputs so that we can assist you in right direction.

If you are traveling less than 50-60km a day, opt for a petrol car instead of a diesel. With the extra Rs 1-1.50 lakh spent on a diesel purchase, you can actually drive a similar petrol car for as many as two years! So, do your math carefully. A diesel usually makes sense if you are driving above 60/70km a day.

Whereas, every one of us knows that traffic is becoming an ever increasing pain. It does not matter how quick your manual gearbox responds or how reliable it is when you get stuck in a huge traffic jam and suffer excruciating pain in your left leg constantly depressing the clutch.

If you'll be driving more in heavy city traffic then we suggest you to opt for Automated Manual Transmission(AMT) which are easier to use and more comfortable for the driver, while Manual Transmission vehicles are less expensive more involved & are more fun to drive on highways.

  • What is the difference between paddle shift and cruise control ?

Published On :2018-05-03 15:32:33.0 By Arun

Thank you for considering us worthy enough to address your concern & writing to us.

Both the terminology that you've mentioned has no correlation. Paddle Shift is a type of transmission whereas Cruise control is a Comfort & Convenience feature.

    Read more below:

The Paddle Shifter usually refers to steering wheel-mounted controls used for changing gears in a vehicle's transmission. The controls, themselves, are typically flat, blade-like devices; one for up-shifts, and a second for down-shifts. These are located for easy operation by the driver's fingertips while grasping the steering wheel, thus the driver can keep both hands on the wheel for better control, and eliminates the need to take his (or her) eyes off the road to perform a shift.
Paddle shifter simply allow the driver to send an electronic signal to the clutch that engages it, causing a gear shift. Essentially, this is the same as what happens in an automatic engine.

Cars like Honda Jazz, Honda City, Honda BR-V, Toyota Corolla Altis AT, Volkswagen Jetta Highline TDI AT Diesel, Skoda Rapid 1.6 MPI Style Plus Black Package AT Petrol etc. have are coupled with Paddle Shift.
On the other hand, Cruise control (sometimes known as speed control or auto-cruise, or tempomat in some countries) is a system that automatically controls the speed of a motor vehicle. Without it, long road trips would be far more tiring, at least for the driver.

    It has some advantages also:

    - Keeps the driver tireless.
    - Since, the engine is running at a constant rpm, the vehicle returns good fuel economy.
    - Cruise control sticks to speed limit on the particular road & makes driving safe and pleasant.
    - It disengages as the brake or clutch is pushed.

Thank you for considering us worthy enough to address your concern & writing to us.

It's good to hear that you wish to buy a car & thank you for making us a part of it.

CarDekho is one-stop destination for all your automobile related questions!

Tata Tiago is the newest car in this class and offers more features for the price without any compromise on space and quality. The Tiago has the best sound system in this segment and also gets smartphone-linked functions for the infotainment system. The petrol-AMT variants add to its appeal as a city-centric family hatchback.

The Tiago's AMT fulfils its duty but in an unyielding manner and dictates the way it should be driven, forcing you to adapt to its calm and composed style. If you can do that, the smooth shifts make it a breeze to drive. But if you are in a hurry, a simple flick will put it in manual mode and turn the lazy Tiago AMT into a fun to drive hatchback.

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR is still one of the best hatchbacks to buy in its segment, in spite of it being given a major upgrade back in 2010! Nothing combines space, performance, fuel-efficiency, low running costs and long-term reliability like the WagonR. There is even a more stylish version of the WagonR if the design of the standard car looks a bit too sedate to you. More than half-a-decade old and the WagonR continues to go strong.

If you want something striking to look at, is reliable, isn’t expensive to maintain and fulfills your need of a hatke looking hatch, the CelerioX checks all those boxes. And if you like a florescent colour too, remember, no other car in its segment has that loud orange shade on offer. It is not a bad car per se, but the multitude of options in the market don't help it stand out.

The AMT on the litte Maruti (Wagon R & Celerio X) isn’t the most polished units around; there are slight jerks when the car upshifts or downshifts. That said, they can be easily overlooked during daily commutes. You can also take charge of the gears yourself by shifting it into manual (M) mode.

Click here - Maruti Celerio X

    Maruti Celerio X (23 kmpl)
    Maruti Wagon R (20.51 kmpl)
    Tata Tiago (23.84 kmpl)

These figures shared above are claimed (ARAI) mileage & rest all depends on one's driving style & habits.

As an overall package & considering your requirement, we would suggest you to pick for Tiago AMT.

Also, we would suggest you to take a test drive before making a final call.
