i need cheapest AWD vehicle, can you suggest
The cheapest AWD vehicle in India is Renault Duster. It is priced at INR 14.00 lakhs(Ex-showroom Delhi). Apart from this, Mahindra Thar is also available in 4x4 which is priced at INR 6.5 (Ex-showroom Delhi).
Mahindra Thar is a very basic vehicle and is a primary choice in case you are looking for regular off roading. Mahindra Thar is a pure off roader and you would not want to use it as a regular family vehicle or for daily needs as interiors and features are not provided in it for this purpose. Its level of practical usage is relatively limited due to the fit, kit and lack of basic creature comforts. Thar has a killer looks but you will regret later on daily use. It's best maintained as an alternate vehicle.
Talking about Duster, the Duster AWD is driven by 1.5 dCi K9k engine that dispenses 108.6bhp and 248Nm of torque, teamed with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Renault has made a few minor but significant changes to the ECU and it shows in the manner the AWD variant performs on the road. There is better torque distribution across the power-band, making it easier to drive at lower revs too. So you don't really need to downshift every time you want to overtake those annoyingly slow moving auto rickshaws. Plus, there's the lighter clutch that adds to the improved driving experience.
The AWD Duster, unlike the traditional 4x4 mechanism, there isn't an option of engaging the 6-speed gearbox into low-range, instead, you get an electronically controlled AWD system that could be engaged on-the-fly with the help of a knob. You could slot it in permanent 2WD mode for your regular urban commute where it works like an ordinary front-wheel driven Duster, or switch to Lock mode, wherein the torque is equally distributed to all four wheels for better traction on tricky situations. This mode can be accessed till the speed of 60 kph, after which it automatically switches to Auto mode.
Maruti Vitara Brezza is available with manual transmission and not in the automatic transmission.
Coming to its automatic variant - Brezza might come with an AMT which is expected to be launched by the end of this year or early next year.
