sir , im in love with diesel cars after test driving figo and punto diesel varients. also their fuel economy has impressed me a lot. mine is a mixed driving, some month 1000 to 15-1600 km and some month even 300-500 kms. kindly guide me about choosing between diesel and petrol in detail.
Diesel saves @3 per km as per current price gap. Premium of around 115000 of diesel car can be recovered by clocking 38k kms. So just check the paid off period. Below 2 to 2.5 yrs is ok. Repair cost of diesel cars are now not so costlier, thanks to technology. Special note- Resale value is higher in diesel.

The Petrol variant of Ford Figo and Fiat Grande Punto deliver better power and performance than diesel. Maintenance also cheap. But diesel variant is better for long drive and good mileage.
According to your drive distance the diesel engine car will better than petrol.

Hey, we would suggest you to go for the Endeavour 2.2 here as it is Cheaper, optional automatic and good for limited usage. Fortuner petrol indeed is a good option. However, The Endeavour diesel is cheaper to buy compared to the Fortuner petrol by nearly 2 lakh for the automatic Trend variant. Infact, the top-spec Endeavour 2.2 AT 4x2 is on par with the petrol Fortuner automatic also Fortuner is more expensive and would not deliver mileage as the Endeavor. Hence, Endeavor is a better deal here. Click here to check out the comparison.
Hey, if you drive for 50 kms in a day, we would suggest you to go for a diesel variant as your monthly running can be more than 1500 kms. The diesel variant though would be expensive to maintain and would cost you more than the petrol variant but you will be able to cover that cost while you drive it. It's difficult to calculate the amount of fuel for the last bar as it depends on the calibration of the fuel gauge and that could vary. There's no confirmed number to quote, and it's best to fill the tank to its full capacity as soon as fuel level drops to a quarter, as that will also help improve efficiency in a small way.
