Is there any tax exemption for disabled person when buying a new car?
Instead of saying straight Yes, we would like to elaborate few things that we know about this matter.
The exemption in Excise is available (100%) to physically handicap persons (mentally sound) only if they buy a car specially designed for handicapped. The procedure to be followed is - the person has to apply directly to the manufacturing company. He will be personally called & interviewed then the car will be modified suitably/specially for him. Besides, the modification/s, such cars are necessarily with auto transmission gears.
Second, RTO will register the car in his name & issue driving license only if a certificate from CMO (Chief Medical Officer) is issued, specifying the disability of the person concerned, and that, he will, however, be able to drive so.
We feel sad to hear about it and this is not expected from the brand like Tata. We would really like to hear more about your experience.
Feel free to share the experience with us on firstname.lastname@example.org and we will surely try to forward it further.
I have planned to buy a Maruti suzuki swift hatchback car , i have booked it also in the nearby showroom but recently i came across Volkswagen Ameo and i was amazed by its looks. Not only looks it almost give the same specifications along with more features than swift on the same price. As it is a Compact Sedan i am looking to cancel the booking and book Ameo . Should i do it ,would it be a good choice , Please suggest
