I am planning to buy a new car this dec or jan'17. Suggest me a car which is reliable, comfort, efficient. These are my constraints- below 9lac (on road price), Petrol version.
Options make our life easier but not always, especially when all the options stand at par with each other. This is exactly what happens when we have to take a decision while buying a car from a variety of alternatives hitting the market, and all of them competing neck to neck with each other. So, how do we decide which car to buy? There are number of aspects that we need to consider before making up our mind. A few of them can be:
>Decide on your budget
>Decide for the segment you want to buy: a compact car, a Sedan or an SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle)
>Look for the detailed interior and exterior features of the options available in your segment like engine power, gear box, mileage, car handling and breaking, and other technical features.
>Gather prior information of the best sellers in the market by going through the market surveys, and don’t forget to ask for discounts and incentives if offered by the manufacturer.
If you're in the market to buy a new car and you have approximately INR 9 lakhs to spend, then you might find yourself in a dilemma. It's obviously not a bad thing, but making a decision will be tough, especially if you're not certain which segment suits your needs the best. There’s so much to choose from. You’ve got hatches, sedans, MPVs and small SUVs as well.
There is a list of vehicles which we feel are the best cars in India below 9 lakhs.
Maruti Baleno: The Baleno offers the perfect balance of performance, features & quality. The Baleno offers good fit and finish compared to any other car in the Maruti portfolio. The car looks beautiful from the outside and isn’t too bad on the inside either. While the diesel may seem underpowered, it makes up with a lightweight body and splendid fuel economy. In terms of performance, it falls in the middle of the segment and the car is easy to drive in city conditions. One of the biggest advantages of having the Baleno over the completion is the access to Maruti’s unmatched after sales and service network.
Hyundai Elite i20: I20 created the premium hatchback segment in our market and this hatch has always been rich on features. If you want a feature rich hatchback, look no further.
VOLKSWAGEN POLO GT TSI: One of the hottest hatchbacks on sale in India currently, the Polo GT TSI combines the standard car's practicality with performance. That engine has been mated to VW's 7 speed DSG dual clutchbox and what you get is car that is an absolute hoot to drive.
FORD ECOSPORT: It has looks, it's packed with features, being a Ford it's good to drive and its got very good engines. The SUV-like exterior with a rear mounted spare wheel and high ground clearance has been a hit with Indian customers and also helps in tackling our roads.Inside there's as much space a big hatchback and the feature list is never ending. Combine that with great engines and great driving dynamics what you get is a vehicle that is hard to fault.

Hey, it is good to hear that you are planning for a new car and we appreciate your choice as both the cars that you have shortlisted are among the best cars in their respective segment.
Firstly, you need to decide the segment that you prefer.
Hatchback : These are small cars which would accommodate around 5 people and it doesn't have an extended boot.

SUV: SUV is expanded as Sports Utility Vehicles and are big cars, which were designed to go over rough surfaces or off road. These can accommodate about 5-7 people.
If you often travel with family with extra luggage then you should buy a sedan and if you travel more on highways and on rough roads then we prefer you to opt the SUV.
In SUV segment, the best car which meets your requirements is Vitara Brezza.

The proven and reliable engine, along with a strong after-sales network, make the Brezza an extremely attractive package. We appreciate your keenness to know the impact of GST on cars.
If you were planning a diesel hatchback or a sub-4m sedan, it's probably the right time to go ahead and make a purchase before GST rolls out.
Currently, the combined taxes on cars, including excise, sales tax and VAT can be as high as 27.5% to 35.5% of the value of the car. With GST implemented, the total taxes on small and medium cars will come to only about 31%. Hence, there will be overall increment in the prices.

The cars you have selected are certainly great options.
Maruti comes with strong after sales network. Talking about Maruti Baleno, a premium hatchback offer perfect balance of performance and features whereas Maruti Dzire is a compact sedan which offers good fuel-efficiency.
On the other hand, Ford Aspire is a stylish sedan offer good driveability. Talking about Volkswagen Ameo, it has better build quality.
Under the hood, all cars are powered with 1.2 petrol engine and have same performance figures but Ameo is slightly under powered.
It would certainly depend on your driving requirements but here Maruti Swift Dzire could be a better pick as it offers five speed manual and automatic transmission with Dual-front Airbags, ABS with EBD as standard safety feature. Rest, if you drive mainly on highways then Ford Aspire will be a better option. Baleno is being sold through Nexa dealership and is one of the most selling car in this segment. It will be easy to drive in city conditions.
Additionally, Ford and Volkswagen is on higher side in terms of maintenance as compared to Maruti family cars.
