Nano XT Review

The Tata brand stands out for pioneering new vehicles, which are cost efficient and do not compromise on quality. One of their small car, Nano has performed decently well in terms of sales and market shares in our country. It has been given a facelift and one of its variant is the Tata Nano XT. There have been several changes made to its exteriors, interiors and features as well. This variant is packed with a 2-cylinder petrol engine, which has a displacement value of 624cc. The external build is just as strong as it had always been. This new version is refurbished at the front, and this renders a more stylish look to its overall profile. The insides are complete on all luxury and convenience needs of its passengers. It has a audio unit with a USB input, and all other necessities. The upholstery is cut out for the finest elegance, while a host of techno aids are also present such as a driver information display and an electronic tripmeter.

Exteriors:

The shape of the vehicle remains just as it had always been. The front profile undergone a slight tweak for a more confident and bold appearance. The headlights on either side of the front have been tweaked and have a stylish shape as well. A key feature of these headlights is the black bezel, and the large, halogen lamps hosted by them. The emblem of the company sits between them. The grille is also slim and attractive at the front, below the emblem. Placed below this is a wide air intake, meant to provide a good cooling to the car's engine. The roof rises higher than most other vehicles, and has a radio antenna at the very front. The side of the vehicle has tinted windows that raise its appeal. Furthermore, it has body coloured door handles that to add to the overall look. The rear of the vehicle is raised higher and wider than the front. The emblem of the company sits at the centre, below the window. Additional facets of the look that give it a stronger look include a sporty integrated tailgate spoiler. Furthermore, the front and rear bumpers have an infinity motif grille, which files as a good boost to the look of the vehicle. Talking of the dimensions, the vehicle stretches for a length of 3164mm, which is slightly better than its previous version. Furthermore, it has an overall width of 1750mm, height of 1650mm, and a wheelbase of 2230mm. The external measurements of the vehicle are made to reflect a great balance in its overall build. It has a ground clearance of 180mm, which is also good.

Interiors:

The cabin is quite large, despite the small appearance that the vehicle portrays from the outer look. It has wide, and comfortable seats featuring reclining feature. The air conditioning unit is good, with the presence of well spread out ducts for good circulation. The upholstery is a combo of black and silver 'Matrixed Nano' upholstery, complete with denim bolster fabrics. An instrument cluster is present at the front, and it is equipped with good functions for a better ride quality. The stereo needs are fulfilled, and the vehicle provides for the storage needs as well with glove boxes and a rear parcel shelf. The seating capacity of the vehicle includes space for four people. This also includes a good deal for the leg room and shoulder room. It provides a trunk space of 110-litres, which is decent for a car of this standard.

Engine and Performance:

This variant is fitted with the same 0.6-litre petrol engine that is based on an SOCH based valve configuration. It comprises of 2-cylinder and 4-valves that displaces 624cc. Furthermore, it has the ability of producing a maximum power of 37.5bhp at 5200-5500rpm along with a peak torque of 51Nm between 3500 to 4000rpm. Its transmission duties are handled by a four speed manual transmission gearbox that distributes the output to its rear ones. It can touch a top speed of 105 kmph, and can go from 0-100 kmph in 29.7 seconds. On the other hand, it can deliver a maximum mileage of approximately 23.9 Kmpl, which is rather good.

Braking and Handling:

It has independent dual circuit hydraulic brakes, operated by tandem master cylinder that comes with vacuum booster function. Furthermore, it has independent lower wishbone and McPherson struts with gas filled dampers and anti roll bar at the front. The rear axle has independent semi trailing arm with coil spring and gas filled shock absorbers. It is adorned with good radials, ensuring that the drive is always guarded by stability and safety.

Comfort features:

It has an advanced AmphiStream music system that is complete with a radio, CD, MP3 and Aux-In. There are four speakers that are spread over the cabin for optimum sound distribution and quality. In addition to this, it has an electronic tripmeter, driver information display, a fuel gauge, low fuel indicator, digital clock, average fuel indicator and an instantaneous fuel consumption meter as well. A 12V socket is present for charging mobiles within the cabin. Cup holders are provided in the front console. A cabin lamp ensures that lighting is provided within the car. It has a magazine and coin holder on all doors. Electric power assisted steering is very responsive and makes it simpler to handle in peak traffic. Sunvisors exist for the front passengers. The driver's seat has a slider function for additional convenience. The passenger side seat also has a slider. The cabin also has a front assist grip and a rear assist grip.

Safety Features:

This section is taken care of with seatbelts, central locking system and booster assisted brakes. Additional body reinforcements make for bolstered safety when driving, and impact cushioning crumple zones are a prized feature. Side intrusion beams are present for further impact protection. A central high mount stop lamp is present for additional safety. A hazard warning switch makes sure that mishaps are avoided to the highest extent possible.

Pros:

1. It has a great array of comfort features for the driver.

2. The inner upholstery is quite impressive.
