Aria Pride 4x4 Review

The Indian auto major, Tata Motors has silently introduced the facelifted version of its luxury MPV, Tata Aria across the country. This utility vehicle is available three trim levels among which, Tata Aria Pride 4x4 is the top end variant. This version is powered by a new 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel engine that complies with BSIV emission norms. This seven seater crossover is loaded with advanced comfort and safety features including driver information system, airbags, dual zone automatic air conditioning system, cruise control system and electronic stability program. This facelifted version is blessed with refurbished exteriors with new headlight cluster, body decals and clear lens taillights. The insides of this vehicle also gets minor cosmetic updates in the form of effective build quality and few other utility based features. This top end trim also gets an advanced HARMAN premium sound system by JBL with 4-speakers and 4-tweeters. On the other hand, it is incorporated with an advanced NAVTEQ navigation system, which also supports Tata Blue 5 technology. As far as the safety aspects are concerned, this facelifted version is integrated with aspects like 6-airbags, all disc brakes, ESP and traction control system. This vehicle will be placed against the likes of Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo and others in the automobile market.

 

Exteriors:

 

The all new Tata Aria has a refreshing exterior style with striking new features. The Tata Aria Pride 4x4 trim is blessed with black bezel headlight cluster that is incorporated with dual barrel projector headlamps and turn indicators. The front radiator grille has been retained from the outgoing trim and it is treated with a lot of chrome. The front bumper has been retained, which is incorporated with a large air intake section along with a pair of fog lights. Its overall front profile is emphasized by the chrome plated company's insignia that is fitted to the grille. Its side profile has extended wheel arches that are equipped with a set of 17-inch aloy wheels. The doors have been elegantly decorated with stylized body graphics that gives a fresh new look to the side. The external door mirrors and handles gets a body color, while the window waistline is treated with chrome. In addition to these, the ORVMs have been incorporated with clear lens side blinkers. The rear profile of this SUV gets a clear lens taillight cluster, which further amplifies the rear profile. This latest version is available in three body color options including Pearl White, Quartz Black, and Arctic Silver to choose from.

 

Interiors:

 

Its interiors gets a two-color Black and Plum scheme and it is further accentuated with metal inserts. Most of the interior design has been retained from the outgoing trim, but better build quality, is what make it look refreshing. The seats have been covered with premium quality leather upholstery that provides addition comfort to the occupants. The design of the dashboard remains unchanged, but it is incorporated with advanced NAVTEQ system and HARMAN premium sound system. Its interiors have been fitted with number of utility based features like cup holders, front row individual seat armrest, second row center armrest, integrated headrests, pillar mounted AC vents , sun visors with vanity mirror, bottle holders, driver's seat height adjuster and much more. Also there is a four spoke steering wheel that comes equipped with multi-functional switches. The best part about the interiors is its huge leg and shoulder space, which ensures greater luxury to the passengers.

 

Engine and Performance:

 

Powering this Tata Aria Pride 4x4 trim is a refined 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel power plant that displaces 2179cc . It is incorporated with 4-cylinders and 16-valves, which allows the engine to produce 147.9bhp at 4000rpm in combination with a peak torque of 320Nm between 1500 to 3000rpm . This motor is skillfully paired with an advanced 5-speed manual transmission with synchromesh and overdrive gearbox that delivers the torque output to the front wheels. In addition to these, it also features a torque on demand 4x4 system that distributes the torque to all four wheels. The manufacturer claims that the vehicle can produce a peak mileage of 15.2 Kmpl, which is quite good.

 

Braking and Handling:

 

Its front wheels have been fitted with high performance ventilated disc brakes accompanied by twin pot calipers, while the rear wheels have been fitted with standard disc brakes. The company has also incorporated an anti lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution for reinforcing the braking mechanism. On the other hand, its front axle is fitted with independent double wishbone type of suspension whereas its rear axle is equipped with 5-link suspension system. This system is further loaded with coil springs, which will further enhance the suspension mechanism. Furthermore, it also has a highly responsive power steering system that provides much needed assistance to the driver.

 

Comfort Features:

 

The Tata Aria Pride 4x4 is the top end variant and is equipped with innovative comfort features. It has an advanced driver information system featuring a tachometer, digital clock, outside temperature display, fuel gauge and so on. The company has incorporated a dual zone air conditioning system with fully automatic climate control system, key less entry with remote integrated key, height adjustable driver seat, ultrasonic reverse guide system with a reverse guide camera , rear wiper and washer with demister and a cruise control system. It also features an electrically adjustable and retractable outside mirrors, glove box chiller, goggle case, follow me home headlamps, roof storage bin, rain sensing wipers, flat foldable and sliding second row seats, and darkness sensing headlamps. In addition to these, this top end variant has a 360Watt HARMAN premium sound system with 8-channel DSP amplifier, 10 speakers and steering mounted audio controls, which will provide high quality entertainment.
