Ritz LXi Review

India’s top most car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki has always offered top class cars to the Indian consumers. Its Maruti 800 and Alto literally created a huge wave in the Indian car market. Its Maruti Swift captured the entire hatchback market. Soon after Swift, Maruti came up with another hatchback called Maruti Ritz. The car was launched in both diesel and petrol engine options. The Maruti Ritz LXi variant is the base petrol variant, which features all the basic necessities, which are crucial for a hatchback. The car has a 1.2 litre of 16 valve K-series petrol engine that produces power and torque of 83bhp and 113Nm respectively. The five speed manual transmission coupled with engine makes the car to deliver a good mileage of 17.94 km per litre. The low noise, harshness and vibration levels make the driving experience for the car. Look wise, the car doesn’t let anyone down.  The unique rear design, with proud front profile gives Maruti Ritz LXi a very bold and pleasing appearance. On the inside, the interiors of the hatchback are filled with all important comfort features, ranging from air conditioner, heater, power steering, power windows, large boot space, and so on.

Exteriors

Maruti Suzuki India has always taken care of the looks of the car and provided its car models with superb and stylized exteriors. Maruti Ritz LXi is streamlined instead of being boxy. The company spent around six months in researching the European car trends and the developments in design, fashion and lifestyle. All this resulted in Maruti Ritz, which is a flawless amalgamation of European styling and Japanese practicality. The front profile of the car features a rising nose and the smoothly sloped roofline going towards the rear is very attractive. The vertical tailgate makes sure utterly low drag co-efficient along with a steady drive at a high speed. The beautiful crease lines of Ritz LXi along the length of the car give it a very youthful appearance and the unique shape provided to it make Ritz LXi one of its kind in the segment. The lights (both front and rear) are done with sportiness. The headlight cluster is incorporated with the turn indicators, while at the rear, the tail lights have a unique style and the high mounted stop lamp is positioned centrally .

Interiors

The interiors of Maruti Ritz LXi are comfortable and relaxing. The ride in the car is certainly not boring and make sure you are calm and easy all through the ride. The front cabin has been done sensibly. The driver’s seat has been provided with high driving position similar to an SUV that gives a better visibility while driving. The gearshift knob is shaped ergonomically and is placed comparatively high in the central console in order to minimize the distance from steering wheel and enhances the storage space. The high quality fabric is used to cover the ergonomically designed seats thereby making the seating arrangement much more comfortable and relaxing. The adjustable steering column allows the steering wheel to be adjusted according to the convenience of the driver. The comfort is further enhanced by the lateral movement and adjustable seats present in Ritz LXi. The other features like air conditioning system with heater, power windows and power steering further improve the overall interiors of the hatchback .

Engine (power, mileage and performance)

Maruti Ritz LXi is the base petrol variant of Ritz powered by 1.2 litre of K-series engine with 16 valves. The power produced by this 1197cc of petrol engine is around 83bhp at the rate of 6000 rpm along with peak torque of 113Nm at the rate of 4500 rpm . The low emission produced the car make it environment friendly. The higher grade engine oil doesn’t require changing oil till 10,000 km. the engine here is coupled with five speed manual transmission allows the car to deliver an impressive mileage of 17.94 km per litre. The car also has smooth acceleration and pickup, which makes it a complete delight for the driver to drive Maruti Ritz LXi. When the car is accelerated, it zooms away with a top speed of 165 km per litre and reaches from 0 to 60 km per hour mark in just 6 seconds, which is certainly very exciting and thrilling.

Braking and Handling

Maruti Ritz LXi has a very impressive braking system, which ensures completely safe drive and ride to its passengers. The front brakes present in the hatchback comprise of ventilated disc brakes , while the rear comprise of drum brakes. This combination of brakes proffers a safe and sound drive in case of unpredicted condition of the road. When at a high speed, this dynamic braking system of the car certainly helps the hatchback in de-accelerating. The suspension system of Maruti Ritz LXi is also sound and very efficient that gives it complete driving comfort and great stability. The front suspension include in McPherson strut with coil spring whereas the rear suspension has torsion beam with coil spring.

Safety Features

The safety features of Maruti Ritz LXi are no less. But being the base petrol variant, the model doesn’t have Anti Lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Force Distribution. But the car does features seat belts, rear fog lamps, iCATS immobilizer and child lock . The sound braking system with good suspension system makes the car furthermore stable and secure.

Comfort Features

The comfort level of Maruti Ritz LXi is certainly quite remarkable. Maruti Suzuki has taken care of the comfort of the passengers and blessed the car with numerous comfort features. The car has efficient and effective air conditioning system with heater, power steering for better control and double horn to glide through heavy traffic without any problem.

Pros

The exteriors of the car are the major highlight and the comfort of the car has been maintained nicely via its premium interiors.

Cons

Being so good in all features, the car is not that common amongst the consumers.
