Vento 2013-2015 2013-2015 1.6 Comfortline Review
VW India has officially launched the facelifted version of its Vento sedan series with a few modifications to its exteriors and interiors. It is available in three trim levels, out of which, Volkswagen Vento 1.6 Comfortline is the mid range variant. This variant gets a modified bumper, re-designed headlight cluster and a revised radiator grille. The rear end also comes with a slightly tweaked taillight cluster that adds to its elegance. The overall dimensions are unchanged, with a total length of 4384mm along with a width of 1699mm and a decent height of 1466mm. Its minimum ground clearance is about 168mm. This sedan is designed with a large wheelbase of 2552mm, which ensures a spacious cabin inside. On the other hand, it also gets an updated center console with matte black finish and a sporty steering wheel that gives a decent look to the cabin. It also gets a new infotainment system with a number of functions. This particular variant is powered by a 1.6-litre, In-line petrol engine, which is powerful yet fuel efficient. It has the ability to churn out a maximum power and torque of 103.6bhp and 153Nm respectively. This stylish sedan is offered with a standard warranty of two years or unlimited kilometers. While the customers can also avail an extended warranty of one year or 800000 Kilometers, whichever is earlier. At the same time, the company is also offering it with a 3-years warranty for paint along with 6-years anti-corrosion warranty as well.
Exteriors:
This refreshed version comes with an aerodynamic body structure, which received minor cosmetic updates. Its frontage is designed with a black finished dual beam headlight cluster that gives a magnificent look to the front. It is integrated with high intensity halogen lamps and side turn indicator. The new radiator grille is fitted with a chrome plated horizontal strip and is embedded with a prominent company logo in the center. The body colored bumper has also been modified that is now equipped with a wide air dam along with a pair of fog lamps. Its side profile is dominated by strong character lines and body colored door handles. The electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors are integrated with side turn blinker. Meanwhile, the well molded wheel arches have been fitted with a set of 15 inch steel wheels that are further covered with full wheel covers. These rims are fitted with 185/60 R15 sized tubeless radial tyres. The rear profile is designed with stylish tail light cluster, a body colored bumper with a pair of reflectors and expressive boot lid with variant badging. The windscreen is integrated with a defogger and is accompanied by a high mounted stop lamp as well.
Interiors:
The updated interiors of this Volkswagen Vento 1.6 Comfortline is done up with a dual tone color scheme. It is integrated with a new flat bottom steering wheel that has silver finish along with high gloss black inserts. It also has tilt and telescopic adjustable function, which provides additional convenience. The seats are very comfortable and provide ample leg space and headroom for all passengers. These are integrated with adjustable head restraints and covered with premium fabric upholstery. Its dashboard is equipped with a number of equipments like an illuminated instrument panel, a large glove box along with sun glass holder and AC vents. The company has given this trim a lot of utility based aspects, which includes center console with cup holders, rear doors with storage compartment, front center armrest featuring cup holders for rear passengers, rear center armrest and three grab handles along with foldable coat hooks. It also has a spacious boot compartment of 454 litres, which can be further increased by folding the rear seat.
Engine and Performance:
This variant is powered by a 1.6-litre, in-line petrol engine, which has the ability to displace 1598cc. It is integrated with 4-cylinder and 16-valve using DOHC based valve configuration. This power plant can produce a peak power output of 103.5bhp at 5250rpm , while generating a maximum torque of 153Nm at 3800rpm. It is coupled with a five speed manual transmission gear box that sends the engine torque to its front wheels. With the help of a multi point fuel injection supply system, it can produce 15.04 Kmpl on the bigger roads and 12.02 Kmpl in the city traffic conditions. This sedan can achieve a top speed of approximately 185 Kmph, which is rather remarkable. At the same time, it can cross the speed barrier of 100 Kmph in just 12 seconds.
Braking and Handling:
Its front axle is assembled with a McPherson strut, which also has a stabilizer bar, while the rear axle is fitted with semi-independent trailing arm type of suspension mechanism. On the other hand, the front wheels are fitted with a set of disc brakes, while its rear ones get conventional drum brakes. This sedan is bestowed with a speed sensitive electronic power steering system that is based on rack and pinion mechanism. It is quite responsive and supports a minimum turning radius of 5.4 meters.
Comfort Features:
This Volkswagen Vento 1.6 Comfortline is the mid range variant in its series and it is being offered with a lot of standard along features. It is bestowed with a new music system, which supports CD/MP3 player, Aux-in port, USB interface, SD card slot and four speakers. Its instrument panel is equipped with a number of warning and notifications for keeping the driver updated. The efficient air conditioning unit comes with dust and pollen filter. It also has rear AC vents, which helps in cooling the entire cabin quickly . Apart from these, it also has all four power windows with driver side auto down function, driver's seat with height adjustment function, gear shift indicator, electronic power steering, remote fuel lid opener and sun visors with passenger side vanity mirror.
Safety Features:
The list of protective aspects include 3-point seat belts for all passengers along with lap belt in middle. Furthermore, it has driver seat belt warning notification, a central locking system, high mounted third brake light, rear fog lights, day and night interior rear view mirror, height adjustable head restraints and an advanced engine immobilizer with floating code. It also has pinch guard safety for all power windows, rear defogger and fog lamps.
