Indigo eCS 2010-2017 GLX Review
Tata Motors is one of the few companies in India which managed to create a universe around its products, where almost every segment has Tata Motor’s footprint. There will always be a car running on the streets that can be classified as either a SUV, a hatchback, a sedan or from any other segment. Because with Tata Motors innovation is evolution, which continuously occurs thereby creating products that reflect not just the legacy of a Tata car but also the contemporary technology that defines them. Among the successful cars of Tata Motors, the Tata Indica was a ground breaking success, which was followed by the Indigo. While the Tata Indica is essentially a hatchback, the sedan looks of the Tata Indigo make the vehicle highly desirable and depict exceptional class. Among the entire range, the
Tata Indigo CS eGLX BS IV offers a really beautiful set of features and design aesthetics. The exteriors of the vehicle are an example of sheer class, while the interiors offer pure elegance. With the interiors of the vehicle, the Tata Indigo CS eGLX BS IV breaks new grounds in terms of interior luxury. The vehicle offers nothing less than a top end luxury aspects and comes with spacious, comfortable and rich interiors. The exteriors however offer a striking resemblance to the iconic Tata Indica. Tata Indigo comes in seven variants with fuel options of diesel and petrol. The car is offered as a petrol variant and comes with MPFi Petrol engine. But even though it has a petrol engine it comes with astounding fuel efficiency. Tata Indigo eCS GLX comes with
12.32 Kmpl mileage in the city and 15.64 Kmpl on highways . The vehicle is also BS-IV compliant making it a rather environmental friendly vehicle. The car comes with striking features too making the vehicle a promising purchase due to its fuel economy.
Exteriors:
The Tata Indigo eCS GLX comes with a remarkable set of exteriors, which makes the vehicle look captivating. The front fascia of the vehicle comes with an uncanny resemblance to the Tata Indica though the exteriors are further modified. The exterior build comes in subtle curves and smooth edges and corners. The car has everything that an economical sedan needs. With decent aerodynamic rendering on the bonnet and the
front fender lines, the car represents the sophistication and style of Tata Motors . The front houses an evenly placed headlamp cluster, front grille and air intake valves. Interiors:
The interiors of Tata Indigo eCS GLX depicts sheer elegance. The first thing noticeable in the interiors is its build quality. It is nothing less than a high end sedan. With richly built dash, seats and interior accessories, the car also features an interesting steering wheel that represents the Tata logo in its design. The leg room offered in the vehicle is exceptional and deserves an applaud. Though the dash and its compartments are spacious, the seating space is not compromised to achieve them. The front dash comes with a symmetric design however the controls and speed aspects are kept to the driver. The leg room is also sufficient in the rear seat rows. The seating arrangement is comfortable with enough thigh support.
With an air conditioner, heater, tachometer, glove compartment and a digital clock, the car’s interiors are stuffed with features which depict luxury . The fabric upholstery takes the interior experience to a completely new level.
Engine and Performance:
The Tata Indigo eCS GLX features a
1.2-litre MPFi petrol engine. The vehicle comes with an impressive performance as it manages to create a
maximum output of
64.1bhp at 5000rpm, while the torque produced reaches a maximum of 100Nm at 2700rpm. Tata succeeded in creating a powerful machine along with being fuel efficient as well. The vehicle offers a promising mileage despite a petrol engine. The mileage offered in city is 12.32 Kmpl and 15.64 Kmpl on highways. With a fuel tank capacity of 42 litres, it does ensure a pleasurable ride. The car also has a five speed manual gear box transmission, which offers smooth gear shifts.
Braking and Handling:
The Tata Indigo eCS GLX comes with front
disc brakes and rear drum brakes. The car also has independent McPherson Strut with coil spring front suspension and independent 3 link McPherson Strut with anti roll bar suspension in the rear.
Comfort Features:
The Tata Indigo eCS GLX comes with extremely spacious interiors offering superior comfort. Along with the spacing, the car also has power steering, power windows in front and
rear, remote fuel lid opener, low fuel warning light, accessory power outlet, vanity mirror, seat lumbar support . In terms of entertainment, being a base variant, the car manages to offer some truly impressive features. It has CD player with front and rear speakers and a radio FM as well.
Safety Features:
As this is the entry level variant, it comes with basic safety parameters such as
child safety locks, central locking, halogen headlamps, rear seat belts, seat belt warning, door ajar warning, side and front impact beams , adjustable seats and centrally mounted fuel tank. The car also has a strong build, which helps it resist some of the minor collision impacts. For the price it is offered, it does provide some promising features as a whole.
Pros: Affordable, decent mileage, good build quality, spacious interiors.
Cons: No ABS, no airbags, power window buttons are not conveniently placed.
