The highlight of the ‘freedom’ week was, of course, the reveal of the first official sketch of the upcoming Hyundai Santro hatchback. In other news, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was spied completely, while Mahindra released images revealing the Marazzo’ cabin. Besides the common man, the weakening rupee is taking a toll on automakers as well as Maruti and Mercedes-Benz have announced a price hike across their range in India. The tally of carmakers hiking prices now reads five (Honda, Mahindra & Hyundai have already announced in previous weeks). We expect more carmakers to join the price rise bandwagon in the coming weeks.

Maruti cars get pricier by upto Rs 6100: Maruti Suzuki has announced a price hike across its entire range starting 16 August. The increasing input costs, inflation rates and the tumbling value of rupee against the US dollar has led to the price rise. Even Mercedes-Benz has cited similar reasons for the price hike of 4 per cent across its lineup starting 1 September 2018.
