Cayenne 2014-2023 Base Review

Porsche India has produced striking vehicles in the market that has attracted many car enthusiasts. One among them is Cayenne, which is one of their best selling vehicle globally. Their Porsche Cayenne Base as the name suggests in the entry level trim. It is powered by a 3.6-litre diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 3598cc. This engine is mated with an efficient gear box and has the ability of churning out 300bhp along with 400Nm. Designed without compromise, the Cayenne family is the result of astounding creativity and advanced engineering. It lavish internal cabin is bestowed with a lot of innovative features. It has a reliable braking mechanism and all its wheels are fitted with a set of ventilated disc brakes. At the same time, its suspension mechanism is quite proficient and helps in keeping the vehicle agile as well as stable. The car maker has given it a large wheelbase and a decent ground clearance, which makes it perfect for dealing with any road conditions. This vehicle is competing with the likes of Land Rover Discovery 4, Toyota Land Cruiser, Mercedes Benz GL Class and others in this luxury class.  

Exteriors:

It has an attractive body design which is one of ita major plus point. The latest version looks more sophisticated and better shaped than before from both front and rear. Its frontage is designed with a slanted bonnet that has a few visible character lines for giving it a distinct appeal. The bold radiator grille comes with a few slats and is flanked by a well-lit-up headlight cluster that comprises of main bi-xenon headlamps along with auxiliary beam lights, cleaning system and automatic dynamic range control. The LED daytime running lights are also integrated separately into the clusters above the air intake grille. The bumper is fitted with a pair of round shaped fog lamps. It has a large windscreen that is accompanied by a pair of rain sensing wipers. Its side profile is designed with chrome finished window sill, body colored ORVMs and strong expressive lines. The neatly crafted wheel arches are fitted with a set of stylish alloy wheels, which are covered with tubeless radials. Its rear end is designed with a sporty rear spoiler, which is integrated with a high mounted stop lamp. The wraparound tail light cluster is incorporated with LED based lamps and side turn indicator.

Interiors:

The spacious internal cabin is designed in a Monochrome black interior package, which is complimented by a lot of wood and silver inserts for giving it a plush appeal. It is bestowed with individual seats in front and rear cabin, which are incorporated with several innovative aspects like heating, memory and massage function. All seats are integrated with 2-way adjustable head restraints. The extra sheen veneers with soft leather upholstery on the seats and high class chrome fittings make the interiors utterly lavish and pleasurable. The dashboard is in a wood finish with central console and the door panels that emphasizes the exclusiveness of the interiors. The silver finishing on air vents, center console trim, door release levers, glove compartment knob and a few others further adds to the refined tone of its interiors. On the other hand, it includes some utility based aspects as well like clothes hooks on seat backrests, two individual cup holders, storage compartment in each door and lockable glove compartment to name a few.

Engine and Performance:

As said above, this variant is powered by a 3.6-litre diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 3598cc. It is incorporated with a latest generation fuel injection technology, which allows this SUV to generate about 10-12 Kmpl on expressways, which is surprisingly good. It comprises of six cylinders and twenty four valves. This power plant has the ability to produce 300bhp at 6300rpm and 400Nm at just 3000rpm. This motor has been paired with an 8-speed tiptronic automatic transmission gear box with gearshift controls on steering wheel. It enables the motor to zoom toward 100 Kmph speed mark in just about 7.7 seconds from a standstill. At the same time, it can reach an electronically regulated top speed of 230 Kmph, which is rather thrilling for the passengers. 

Braking and Handling:

Both its axles are bestowed with a lightweight spring strut type of mechanism. However, buyers can opt for a superior Porsche Active Suspension Management that includes electronic damping control system, which regulates the damping force of individual wheel depending upon the road condition and driving style. On the other hand, its internal cabin is incorporated an advanced electromechanical power assisted steering system with variable steering ratio, which reduces the efforts required by the driver by providing precise response. The front wheels are fitted with a set of six piston monobloc aluminum fixed caliper disc brakes, which are internally vented. Whereas, the rear ones have been equipped with four piston monobloc aluminum fixed calipers disc brakes. Apart from these, it also has an electric parking brake, which can be activated and deactivated manually. 

Comfort Features:

This variant is blessed with an advanced automatic climate control unit including separate air vents for all passengers. At the same time, the presence of tinted heat insulating glass all around with grey top-tint in the windscreen helps in keeping the entire ambiance pleasant irrespective of the temperature outside. The cabin is bestowed with an advanced audio unit that features various input options along with fourteen speakers for enhancing the ambiance of its cabin. It also has theater configuration that allows them to watch TV or a DVD on two high quality twelve inch screens that fold flat into the backs of the front seats. It is linked to an independent DVD player that allows them to choose their own content. There are headphone sockets provided, so that rear seat passengers could listen to the music or movies without disturbing the front seat passenger and driver.

Safety Features:

It has a specifically designed aluminum body shell, which is built on an intelligent lightweight construction technology. This comprises of impact protection beams and crumple zones along with energy absorbing padding in important areas, which can deal with the impacts caused in case of a collision. The car maker has also incorporated it with an advanced anti theft protection system, which features an engine immobilizer with in-key transponder and a contact sensing exterior protection. Furthermore, this variant has a radar based interior surveillance system, which enhances the security for this SUV. In addition to these, it also has the Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system, roll over protection, Porsche dynamic light system with bi-xenon head lights and automatic headlight activation including welcome home lighting, ISOFIX child mounted seats, passenger airbag deactivation, central locking system with remote control and so on.
