Maruti Suzuki has generated a lot of buzz among masses since the news of Vitara Brezza's launch had started doing rounds. Let us now discuss about the VDi Option trim, which is one of its mid range variants and see what's in store for us.

Pros:

1. Exterior design and structure. It is robust and muscular yet flaunts a stylish look.
2. Availability of various safety aspects like front airbags and ABS adds to its benefit.

Cons:

1. Lacks the advanced infotainment system, which is offered in the top spec models.

Stand Out Features

1. The DDiS 200 drive train returns an impressive fuel economy better than its competitors.

Overview

Maruti Vitara Brezza VDi Option, which is priced at around Rs. 7.75 lakh is a mid range variant in this model lineup. Built on the Suzuki C platform, this machine flaunts a sporty look with attractive design cues and creases that makes it stand out in the crowd. On the outside, the spotlight definitely falls on the bold front grille, floating roof design and the rear end, which is designed excellently. This compact SUV is hefty on the outside, but inside it carries a contemporary design theme that leaves you with a pleasant feel. It packs in several styling elements and comfort giving features as well like the tilt steering column, audio remote control, and manual air conditioner along with some storage spaces. On the other hand, it incorporates a 1.3-litre diesel motor that gives the best in class mileage. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission gear box and delivers 88.5bhp power together with 200Nm torque. Besides good performance, it also ensures maximum passenger safety with aspects like engine immobilizer, ABS, dual horn, seat belts and a few others.

Exterior:

Vitara Brezza is indeed one of the most stunning vehicles from the stables of Maruti Suzuki. It is muscular, bold and even stylish in terms of design and appearance. What impresses the most in its frontage is the bold radiator grille that carries the prominent company's insignia. On either sides of this grille, high intensity headlamps are positioned. Below this, is a perforated airdam equipped to the well sculpted bumper that houses turn indicators and a black garnished skid plate beneath. On the sides, it gets body colored door handles, outsides rear view mirrors as well as B-pillars. The cladding on doors and flared up square wheel arches gives its sides a unique look. A set of 16 inch steel wheels are offered, which come covered with 205/60 R16 sized tubeless tyres. What catches your attention in the rear end is the stylish tail gate, which carries a thick chrome slat on it. The split rear combination tail lamps go well with the rear design, while the LED high mount stop lamp and the roof end spoiler further adds to its appearance.

Interior:

The all black color scheme with a touch of chrome here and there does gives a striking appeal to its interiors. The overall cabin design is simple, but the use of high quality materials and presence of sophisticated features gives an upmarket feel. It is designed in a way to provide sufficient space for five people, besides leaving them with enough leg and head room. As for the seats, they come integrated with headrests and are wrapped with fabric covers. The second row seat, meanwhile, gets the flip and fold function. The dashboard has a simple design but the advanced equipments grant the entire set up with an ultramodern look. The center console houses a manual air conditioner and an audio unit featuring a CD player. The audio remote control is also offered for easy operation of this unit. The aspects like AC louver knobs and parking brake lever look great with fine metallic finishing. Besides these, other useful elements on the offer include a multi information display, front accessory socket, bottle holders, upper glove box, power windows, and tilt steering wheel to name a few.

Performance

Diesel

The entire Vitara Brezza lineup is offered with a 1.3-litre, DDiS 200 diesel engine, which comes in compliance with BS IV emission standards. This mill displaces 1248cc and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox. It belts out a peak power of 88.5bhp power at 4000rpm and delivers torque output of 200Nm at 1750rpm. This oil burner gives you the best in class mileage, which is 24.3 Kmpl on the highways.

Ride & Handling:

To ensure a comfortable driving experience, the company has incorporated it with an efficient suspension system comprising of a front McPherson strut and rear torsion beam. This set up also includes coil springs to make the ride free from sudden shocks and jerks on uneven roads. In terms of braking, it gets ventilated discs at front and drum brakes in the rear. Further adding to this reliable mechanism is the anti lock braking system and electronic brake force distribution, which makes the drive more secure. Handling is at its best with the help of a power steering wheel that simplifies manoeuvrability in all road conditions.

Safety:

It is a known fact that safety is always a priority for the home bred automaker. Maruti has built it based on the Total Effective Control Technology (TECT), which utilizes high tensile strength steel that not only absorbs impacts but endures them as well. Apart from these, it comes with features like anti-theft security system, dual front airbags, front seat belt pretensioners, reverse parking sensors with infographic display and engine immobilizer that adds to the security quotient.

Verdict

Maruti Suzuki has been on a roll, just a few months ago they stunned the car aficionados by introducing Baleno in a striking avatar. And now, the automaker is back again with the Vitara Brezza, which is undoubtedly gaining huge attention from the masses. This particular variant possesses several plus points like good safety standards, comfort features and fuel economy, which is the best of all. It also carries a few weak points like the low power output, and compact cabin size. If you are one of those who want a great looking vehicle with best fuel economy at a decent price then this vehicle is the best choice to opt for.
