SX4 S Cross 2015-2017 DDiS 200 Delta Review

Maruti has long held a stable position in the Indian car market, and the company has just launched a long awaited new model to its line up, the S-Cross. This is a crossover model that is available in seven variants, and one among them is the Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Delta . Firstly, it is powered by a turbocharged 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. A strong suspension arrangement and a reliable braking system add to the drive experience, ensuring that the occupants enjoy a fast and safe drive as well. This variant is equipped with its own list of features wherein, there are an array of high grade safety facilities ranging from seatbelts to a strong dual horn and a rigid body format for impact protection. The model comes with an external presence that is toned and muscular, while at the same time, carrying a sporty image as well. It is also lavished with fine design elements such as chrome highlights and silver garnishes, giving a more plush allure. Stylish wheels with well designed arches also enhance its stylish presence. Coming to the interior comforts, this variant is blessed with a sliding front center armrest that comes with a storage function. A glove box is also present for additional storage, and it comes with a damper and illumination features. A sunglass holder allows for storing shades in a convenient manner. There are bottle holders on the door trims for storing beverages during the drive.

Exteriors:

The vehicle has a muscular build that goes along with a sporty persona. Starting off with the frontage, its chrome grille is an attractive element. There are stylish headlamp clusters on either side of this, and they come with a headlamp leveling function for better clarity on the road. The wide hood adds to the muscular image of the car. Coming to the side profile, the steel wheels come with full wheel caps. The wheel arch extension further adds to this effect. The body colored door handles and outside mirrors integrate into the overall picture well. The blackout effect on the B pillar adds flavor to the vehicle's look. The rear section of the vehicle is more robust and toned, making for a more balanced overall picture. Furthermore, the split rear combination lamps are also good looking. Its exterior build strikes a harmonious pose with an overall length of 4300mm and with a width of 1765mm. Its height is 1590mm including the roof rails. A wheelbase of 2600mm ensures good space for the passengers within.

Interiors:

The cabin arrangement makes for a good level of space and comfort for all of the passengers. Altogether, five adults can be comfortable seated within the car. The seats are covered in fabric upholstery, adding a plush value to the place. Furthermore, there are door armrests in fabric for the convenience of the passengers. The AC louvre knobs have a chrome finish, making for a more rich interior picture. In addition to this, there are chrome door handles as well, and a chrome tipped parking brake lever for the best drive environment.

Engine and Performance:

This variant is powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS engine that is run under diesel. It consists of four cylinders incorporated through the DOHC configuration. The drive-train is gifted with a variable geometry turbocharger for improved performance. Furthermore, it is given the common rain fuel injection for efficient fuel transfer. The engine has a displacement value of 1248cc. In addition to this, it gives a power output of 89bhp at 4000rpm, and a torque of 200Nm at 1750rpm. Mated with this engine is the five speed manual transmission gearbox that powers the front wheels.

Braking and Handling:

This variant is gifted with disc brakes at the front and rear. Specifically, at the front it is guarded by ventilated discs, while at the rear, there are solid discs for effective braking. Turning to the suspension arrangement, the front axle is armed with a McPherson strut that comes along with a coil spring. At the rear axle, there is a Torsion beam also present with a coil spring for improved handling quality. Beside all of this, the anti lock braking system is also present for this variant, and this works to improve control when braking.

Comfort Features:

Firstly, there is an audio system that comes along with a CD player function, giving passengers a fine entertainment experience. There are 4 speakers located about the doors for apt sound quality. A USB port along with Aux-In facility offer connectivity with external devices for added utility. Bluetooth connectivity is an added asset for the occupants, giving the benefit of audio streaming along with in-cabin call hosting. The audio and calling controls are both mounted on the steering wheel, giving ease of working. Beside all of this, this variant also offers a remote control for the audio facility, making for a hassle free entertainment experience. For comfort purposes, there is a central locking system, along with a keyless entry function as well. Power windows relieve strain for the passengers. Meanwhile, the driver gets the benefit of an auto up/down feature for his window. The outside rear view mirrors are electrically adjustable for improved ease of working. The steering facility comes with tilt and telescopic features for a comfortable and easier drive. The manual air conditioning system helps to maintain a ambient cabin environment. There are vanity mirrors for the driver and the co passenger. A driver's side footrest is also present for a more relaxed drive.

Safety Features:

Firstly, this car has been built on a Suzuki TECT body format, and this adds to the safety quality by reducing damage during mishaps. Beside this, there are airbags for both the front passengers, shielding them in case of crashes or other hazardous situations. The front seat belts come with pre-tensioners and belt force limiters for a more secure environment. There is a lamp and buzzer that act as driver's side seatbelt reminders. In addition to all of this, a reverse parking sensor is present along with a display, improving safety when reversing and parking.
