Xylo H8 Review
Mahindra India is one of the most trusted automobile manufacturer and is famous for their durable utility vehicles. It has launched the facelifted version of their spacious MUV, Xylo in the market. It is now available with updated exteriors as well as interiors. The company is selling this vehicle in quite a few variants, out of which, Mahindra Xylo H8 is the mid range trim. It is now available with 'comfort drive technology', which gives superior stability and reduces body roll even at high speeds. In terms of exteriors, it gets a lot of chrome treatment, stylish body decals and updated radiator grille. Its overall dimensions include a length, width, height, ground clearance and wheelbase of 4520mm, 1850mm, 1880mm, 186mm, 2760mm respectively. At the same time, its internal cabin is bestowed with a newly designed instrument cluster, advanced audio unit with music streaming, digital information system and several other aspects. This particular trim houses a new 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 2179cc. It is mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box and can churn out a peak power of 118.3bhp along with 218Nm of torque.
Exteriors:
The frontage has a masculine radiator grille, which is fitted with a few body colored vertical slats. This grille is surrounded by a well designed headlight cluster, which is incorporated with halogen lamps and side turn indicator. Its bonnet gets a single chrome plated slat and it is embossed with a prominent company logo. It has a modified bumper, which is garnished in body color and house a large air intake section that is flanked by a pair of bright fog lamps. The windscreen is made of toughened glass and integrated with a set of intermittent wipers. Coming to its side profile, it is dominated by stylish body graphics and black colored moldings. Its door handles and outside rear view mirrors (electrically adjustable) are painted in body color. The wheel arches are equipped with a set of 15-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers and covered with 215/75 R15 sized tubeless radials. The sides have also been bestowed with foot steps and mud flaps. The rear end has a windscreen with defogger and high mounted stop lamp. Its body colored bumper has a pair of bright reflectors. Apart from these, it also has a luminous tail light cluster, a curvy boot lid with variant badging, a sporty rear spoiler and a set of roof rails. Currently, the company is selling this vehicle in quite a few exterior paint options, which are Diamond White, Toreador Red, Mist Silver, Fiery Black, Java Brown and a Dolphin Grey metallic finish option.
Interiors:
This Mahindra Xylo H8 trim has a spacious internal cabin, which can easily accommodate eight passengers. The well cushioned seats are covered with premium fabric upholstery. All these seats are integrated with adjustable head restraints, which adds to the convenience . The smooth dual tone dashboard is equipped with a three spoke steering wheel, a large glove box and a new instrument panel. It is equipped with a few functions like a digital tachometer, an electronic tripmeter, low fuel warning light, driver seat belt reminder notification and several other notifications for keeping the driver updated. The company has integrated this variant with a number of utility based aspects, which are roof console for spectacles, sun visors with passenger side vanity mirror, two courtesy lamps, cup and bottle holders and so on. It has a spacious boot compartment, which can be increased by folding rear seat.
Engine and Performance:
This variant is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which is mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box. It is integrated with four cylinders and sixteen valves using a DOHC based valve configuration. This 2179cc motor can churn out 118.3bhp at 4000rpm in combination with 280Nm between 2400 to 2800rpm . It can attain a top speed in the range of 150 to 156 Kmph. While the time taken by this motor for crossing the speed barrier of 100 Kmph from a standstill is around 15-16 seconds. It is incorporated with a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system, which helps in generating 10 Kmpl in the city limits and 15 Kmpl on the highways.
Braking and Handling:
This mid range trim is blessed with an efficient suspension system that helps it to tackle all the jerks caused on roads. The front axle is affixed with a double wishbone with independent front suspension and the rear one gets a multi link coil spring. The braking system is quite reliable wherein, its front wheels are fitted with a set of disc brakes and the rear ones are equipped with sturdy drum brakes. This mechanism is further improved by anti-lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution. The manufacturer has incorporated it with a power steering system that is highly responsive. It has tilt adjustment function and supports a minimum turning radius of 5.5 meters.
Comfort Features:
The automaker has packed this trim with several comfortable features that gives a pleasurable driving experience. The occupants can enjoy their favorite music all through the journey through an advanced 2-DIN music system. It supports auxiliary input, USB port, CD, MP3 player, radio tuner and has speakers as well . The HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) unit cools the cabin and creates a pleasant ambiance. This variant has power windows with express up/down and anti pinch function available on the driver's side. It has a flexible 60:40 split foldable seat in the third row, which makes more space for luggage. The driver's seat has height adjustment facility,while the outside rear view mirrors are electrically adjustable. There are two mobile charging points available, which are quite useful for charging phones and other electronic devices. It has front sun visors along with an illuminated vanity mirror on co-driver's side. Apart from these, it includes individual AC vents, tilt adjustable steering, keyless entry, remote fuel lid opener, 3-position lumbar support for front seats, armrest in front and second row captain seats and a few other such features.
Safety Features:
This Mahindra Xylo H8 variant is available with a few safety aspects for the security of its passengers. These include an engine immobilizer that prevents unauthorized access into the vehicle. It has anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution. This avoids the vehicle from skidding in the event of emergency braking . The intellipark reverse assist function helps the driver to park it easily. It has a robust body structure with side impact beams that offers protection in case of a collision. In addition to these, it has a central locking system, rear windshield with defogger, centrally mounted fuel tank and seat belts for all its occupants.
