Xylo D4 Review

The facelifted version of Mahindra Xylo is launched in the country's car market. It is offered with two diesel engine options in several trims. Among these, Mahindra Xylo D4 is a mid range diesel trim that is incorporated with a 2.5-litre, mDI engine. It has the ability to produce a peak power of 93.7bhp in combination with maximum torque output of 218Nm. It is mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box that propels the vehicle to attain a top speed in the range of 150 to 160 Kmph. It is bestowed with an updated suspension system that is based on the comfort drive technology. The internal cabin is quite roomy and decorated with a dual tone color scheme. It includes a black center bezel and has mobile charging points on console. Other aspects in the cabin include tilt steering wheel, HVAC unit and a few other utility based features. This multi utility vehicle has a robust body structure that is fitted with aspects like an aggressive radiator grille, roof rails, radiant tail light cluster as well as body colored bumpers. In addition to these, it has some standard safety features that ensures protection of its passengers and the vehicle as well. The automaker is currently offering it in six exterior paint options for the buyers to choose from. The list includes Java Brown, Toreador Red finish, Mist Silver, Fiery Black, Dolphin Grey and Diamond White as well. This vehicle competes against Nissan Evalia, Chevrolet Enjoy, Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova in the market. Exteriors :

This massive vehicle is blessed with a rigid body structure that is equipped with a number of aspects. The front fascia has a bold radiator grille that is flanked by a bright headlight cluster. It is integrated with high intensity headlamps and turn indicators as well. The bumper is painted in body color and includes a wide air dam that cools the engine quickly. The windshield is large and integrated with a pair of intermittent wipers. The side profile is designed with black colored door handles and outside rear view mirrors . It has neatly carved wheel arches that are fitted with a robust set of 15 inch steel wheels. These rims are further covered with tubeless radial tyres of size 205/65 R15 and full wheel covers as well. In addition to these, its side profile also has a foot step that is integrated with front mud flaps. Coming to the rear end, this trim has a pretty wide windshield along with a rear wash and wipe function. It has a radiant tail light cluster, body colored tail gate appliqué and a bumper. The company has designed it with an overall length of 4520mm along with a decent width of 1850mm. It has a total height of 1880mm, while its wheelbase measures 2760mm, which is quite good.

Interiors:

This Mahindra Xylo D4 variant is blessed with a roomy cabin that has a new dual tone beige and black color scheme. It provides a comfortable seating arrangement besides offering enough leg room as well as shoulder space, which gives a relaxing driving experience to its occupants. The seats are well cushioned and covered with high quality fabric upholstery with PVC inserts. The dashboard is neatly designed and integrated with an instrument cluster, glove box compartment and a stylish center console. It has mobile charging points on console, which occupants can use to charge their phones. Other aspects in the cabin include front sun visors, roof console that has a spectacle holder, analog clock and a courtesy lamp along with some storage spaces. This mid range variant is powered by a 2.5-litre mDI diesel engine that is compliant with BS IV emission norms. It carries 4-cylinders, sixteen valves and has the ability to displace 2489cc . This mill is integrated with a common rail direct injection system. As certified by ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India), it returns a maximum mileage of 14.95 Kmpl when driven on bigger roads. This motor is skillfully coupled with a five speed manual transmission gear box. It is capable of producing a peak power of 93.7bhp at 3600rpm and at the same time, yields a peak torque output of 218Nm in the range of 1400 to 2600rpm. This vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 Kmph in around 17 seconds and achieves a top speed that ranges between 150 to 160 Kmph, which is rather good.

Braking and Handling:

The automaker has incorporated it with a proficient suspension system that helps it to remain stable on any road conditions. The front axle is affixed with a double wishbone with independent front suspension and the rear one gets a multi link coil spring . It has a reliable braking system wherein, its front wheels are fitted with a set of disc brakes and sturdy drum brakes are used for the rear ones. On the other hand, it comes with a power assisted steering system that has tilt adjustment function. It is highly responsive and supports a minimum turning radius of 5.5 meters.

Comfort Features:

This Mahindra Xylo D4 variant is packed with quite a few comfort aspects that gives a pleasurable driving experience. The list includes a tilt adjustable steering wheel, electric fuel lid opener, internal rear view mirror, courtesy lamps and an illuminated key ring. It is blessed with a HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) unit that helps in regulating the temperature inside cabin. Apart from these, it includes individual air vents, half floor console, digital clock and a few other such aspects that adds to the comfort levels.

Safety Features:

This trim is loaded with a few safety aspects like a central locking system, robust disc and drum brakes and a centrally mounted fuel tank. It provides seat belts for all its occupants, while the engine immobilizer helps in preventing any unauthorized access into the vehicle.
