Quanto C2 Review

Looking for a mini MPV that could adjust your big family on your long road trips? Well, Mahindra has given an end to your hunt. Mahindra Quanto is a perfect car for you. This is the smaller version of its very successful MPV, Mahindra Xylo. If you have tight budget, you can go for the base variant of Quanto, called Mahindra Quanto C2 . This one has all the basic comfort features along with a strong and strappy diesel engine under the hood. The 1.5 litre of diesel engine here is capable of churning out 100BHP of power and 240Nm of torque. The company has made a smart decision and coupled the engine here with a five speed manual transmission that takes up the mileage of the car to 17.21kmpl. The looks of the car are impressive as it maintains quite a lot of resemblance with Mahindra Xylo and Mahindra XUV 500. The Mahindra Quanto C2 is facing a major competition with Maruti Ertiga that has captured the MPV segment. Even when it comes to the price, Ertiga has a very competitive one; therefore to battle it out well, Mahindra Quanto C2 price is reasonable and affordable. The interiors have features like air conditioning, courtesy lamps, and power steering and more, which make it a better challenger in the market today.

Exteriors

The exteriors of the Mahindra Quanto C2 are surprisingly good and bear a lot of similarity with its cousins, Mahindra Xylo and Mahindra XUV 500. The look of the car would leave a smile on your face. Starting with the front end, you would find bumper with smooth finished bonnet. The large headlamps have been given a nice shape that is very eye-catchy. The side has black ORVMs along with sporty roof line, which adds on the boldness to the exteriors of the car. Finally the rear end of Mahindra Quanto C2, the tail lights are positioned nicely and the high mounted stop lamp is there for safety. However, this is the base variant so you would not see electrically controllable ORVMs, fog lamps and body color on the bumper.

Interiors

Mahindra Quanto C2 is the base variant in the Quanto range, therefore on the inside, the interiors here has been kept simple and not as lavish as its top end trim. The front cabin is designed ergonomically keeping in mind the comfort of the driver. The finish on the centre console is good and the fabric used for the seats is of top quality. The sun visor is present for the front co-passengers and driver and two courtesy lamps are also present. Being the base version, the interiors here misses out on roof console with sunglass holder, digital clock with topper pad and digital drive assist system.

Comfort features

The comfort of the Mahindra Quanto C2 is basic and not a letdown. However, it does miss out on numerous features, but the features that are present here are worth the price that is being paid for the car. The air condition system with heater and ventilation is there to keep the car temperature as you desire . Beating the summer heat will become simple with the AC here. The power and tilt steering ensures a smooth and hassle free handling of the car even in the heavy traffic situations. Sadly, there are no power windows, rear window demister and CD player, but with the price tag, Mahindra Quanto C2 is just ideal. You will find ample of luggage storage space here that would make your long road trips very comfortable and trouble free.

Engine and Performance

Under the hood, Mahindra Quanto C2 is blessed with a 1.5 litre of mCR100 common rail diesel engine that abides by the BS IV norms. The engine here has a displacement of 1493cc and is capable of producing high power output of 100BHP at the rate of 3750rpm along with generating peak torque of 240Nm at the rate of 1600 to 2800rpm. The five speed manual transmission with indirect shift has been coupled with the engine. This combination helps the car to give out maximum mileage of 17.21kmpl. When it’s on road , the acceleration and pickup of the car is just amazing. When accelerated, the car zooms away with a good speed and reaches the 100kmph mark in 17.1 seconds .

 Braking and Handling

Mahindra Quanto C2 is no different from other SUVs in the market when it comes to the braking and handling department. The brakes here comprise of disc brakes on the front along with drum brakes for the rear. The handling of the car is taking to a next level with a good suspension system. The front axle comprise of independent double wishbone coil springs with anti roll bar. On the other hand, the rear axle has five bar link coil springs type of suspension. The power and tilt steering functions very smoothly that provides a good handling and control to the driver and helps him to glide through heavy traffic conditions with utmost ease and comfort.

Safety features

The safety department of Mahindra Quanto C2 is not very sound. The Mahindra Quanto C2 is the base variant therefore, it doesn’t feature any high class safety features, but is does come with the basic ones. The body structure of the car is very strong and keeps the ability to absorb high force in case of any accident or collision. The seat belts are provided for all the passengers. It also has child door lock on the middle and rear doors and digital immobilizer . If you are looking for anti lock braking system, dual airbags, fog lamps, rear wash and wiper and intelli-park reverse assist, then this variant is not for you. For that case, you have to make your budget a bit higher and go for the top end trim of the car, called Mahindra Quanto C8.

Pros

High points of Mahindra Quanto C2 comprise of good looks, nice mileage and high performing diesel engine

Cons

Basic interiors and lack of safety features.
