Ecosport 2015-2021 1.0 Ecoboost Trend Plus BSIV Review
The Ford EcoSport 1.0 EcoBoost Trend Plus is the mid range version and also a newly added trim available in this compact SUV's lineup. But disappointing, this variant hasn't got the non-LED DRLs, which were offered to the top end trim. There are hardly any changes done to its exteriors or interiors, since the updates were given only to the features list. This latest trim is loaded with an automatic climate control unit, an instrument cluster with multiple functions and height adjustable driver's seat. Its safety section also has crucial protective facilities like dual front airbags along with ABS and EBD. Powering this trim is the revolutionary 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, which is turbocharged to display superior performance capabilities. This is the same motor, which is currently under the hood of outgoing models. One of the key highlights is its surprisingly spacious cabin that can take-in at least five passengers. Besides this, the interiors have an up-market design, which is another reason why it is still dominating the sub 4-meter SUV segment.
Exteriors :
The external appearance looks no different from other Trend variants. Although, it is a compact SUV, it has the aggressive and bold stance like any other sports utility vehicle. This mid range version gets a chrome plated radiator grille accompanied by the company's logo in the center. Surrounding this, there is a stylish headlight cluster that is housed with conventional halogen lamps. Below this, the bumper houses a large air intake, which also has chrome plated stripes. This bumper is in body color and integrated with a pair of fog lamps as well. Coming to the side profile, this SUV's sportier look is augmented by the side sills, which are affixed to the lower section of doors. Its body colored outside mirrors blends into the overall structure well and adds to the safety with its integrated turn blinkers. This trim gets steel rims as standard embraced with full wheel covers for a decent appeal. Moving on to the rear, the swing-gate has a masculine structure and is accompanied by stylishly sculptured taillight cluster on its either sides. Like the front one, the rear bumper is in body color affixed with black colored lower cladding.
Interiors:
Coming to the insides, it looks largely identical to the outgoing model, since there are no tweaks. The cabin is in an eye-soothing Charcoal Black and Warm Neutral Grey color scheme rending a plush appeal to the interiors. Further highlighting this is the brushed metallic coating, which is given to the center fascia, AC vent surround and to the steering wheel. The design of the cabin is so good that it will mesmerize you as soon as you take a step inside. The space is another factor that will surprise you, as it has enough leg and headroom to accommodate five passengers. Additionally, the ergonomically designed seats takes the level of comforts to the new level. The rear bench seat has 60/40 rear seat split fold down facility that helps to increase the boot space from 346 litres to 705 litres.
Braking and Handling:
The ventilated disc brakes are fitted to its front wheels, while the drum brakes are affixed to the rear ones. It is further assisted by ABS and EBD, especially while cornering. This trim also gets a tremendous suspension system that does not allow the passengers inside to experience any kind of jerks. Its front wheel axle has been fitted with Independent McPherson Strut kind of suspension with coil spring and anti roll bar mechanism. While the rear wheel axle is offered with Semi independent twist beam type of suspension integrated with gas and oil filled shock absorbers.
Comfort Features:
This latest variant gets some of the advanced features, which are available in its top end versions. One of those includes the automatic climate control unit that keeps the cabin environment pleasant all the time. Some of the other facilities include front and rear courtesy lights, theater dimming, power steering and all four power windows. It also has an advanced instrument cluster integrated with econometer, outside temperature, distance to empty, fuel gauge and other functions.
Safety Features:
The automaker has equipped crucial features like dual front airbags and ABS with EBD that takes the level of safety to a newest heights. It already has a high strength body structure featuring crumple zones and impact beams, which can absorb the impact and can minimize the risk of injury. Some of the other protective features include remote central locking with flip key, engine immobilizer, locking wheel nut for spare wheel, electric swing gate release and emergency brake hazard warning.
Pros:
1. Facilities inside this SUV makes it an ideal option.
2. Superior performance and mileage are its big plus points.
Cons:
1. Its price range is on higher side.
2. Its safety department lacks a few important features.
