City 2015-2017 i VTEC S Review

Exteriors:

What truly is impressive about this latest version is its brand new style and appearance. The company has updated the front, side and rear profiles that has given it a modern look. This sedan is blessed with an advanced structural feature like “advanced compatibility engineering” that allows the manufacturer to improve the road safety, while bringing a magnificent look to its exteriors. The company has updated the design of the front radiator grille along with the headlight cluster and the bumper that added to the aerodynamic stature of the vehicle. The new design bumper is painted with body color and it houses an air dam for better air intake, while the radiator grille comes fitted with the chrome plated strip that adds a premium look to the vehicle. The side profile of this latest edition looks even better with expressive lines on the doors that captivates your mind in the first impression. This mid level variant's wheel arches have been fitted with a sturdy set of 15 inch steel wheels equipped with wheel covers. Here, the door handles along with the outside mirror caps come with body color paint, while the B Pillar window sill gets the black color garnish. The taillight cluster at the rear end also received the re-treatment and it is complimented by the chrome plated strip on the boot lid.

Interiors:

The interiors of the mid level Honda City i VTEC S has been done up quite well with great fit and finish. The company used premium quality plastic inside the cabin that brought plush and premium look to the interior section. In comparison with the outgoing model, the leg space has been improved, thanks to the increased wheelbase of 50mm. The seats fitted inside the cabin are very well cushioned and they are covered with beige colored fabric upholstery. The inside door handles along with the steering wheel get black color garnish, while the AC control dials are in silver color . The “layered floating cockpit” styled dashboard gets a dual tone color that adds to the plushness of the insides. This dashboard is incorporated with a standard multi-information combination meter with amber illumination that comes with trip meter, fuel consumption/warning, average fuel consumption, speedometer and so on. Inside the cabin, you can also find the features such as accessory socket, cup holders, bottle holders, storage compartment and so on.

Engine and Performance:

Powering this fourth generation Honda City is the advanced 4-cylinder, 1.5-litre, i-VTEC petrol engine that gives 1497cc displacement capacity. The company hasn't made any changes to the technicalities or specifications of this engine and retained the same SOHC based valve configuration. The maximum power output produced by this i-VTEC engine is about 117.3bhp at 6600rpm that is converted in to a peak torque output of 145Nm at 4600rpm. On the other hand, the company has skillfully mated this advanced petrol engine with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox that sends the torque power to the front wheels and returns a peak mileage of 17.4 Kmpl.

Braking and Handling:

The latest edition of Honda City is being offered with a highly efficient braking mechanism that delivers the best of performance in all road conditions. The front wheels of this sedan comes fitted with with disc brakes, whereas the rear ones have been assembled with a set of proficient drum brakes. Furthermore, the car maker incorporated this braking combination with an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution system that improves the road safety. On the other hand, its front axle comes fitted with McPherson Strut type of suspension system at the same time its rear axle is fitted with a robust Torsion Beam type of mechanism. This suspension system is further loaded with the coil springs that reinforces the mechanism and improves the stability of the vehicle.

Comfort Features:

The Honda City i VTEC S is the mid range petrol trim in its model series and it is offered with decent set of features. The list of comfort features include an air conditioning system with heater, dust and pollen filter, interior light, trunk light, power adjustable ORVMs, power assisted steering system with tilt function, key less entry function, front and rear power windows, power door lock , digital clock, coat hook and three grab rails. All these features will take care of the basic needs of the occupants inside and makes the journey comfortable.

Safety Features:

Despite being the mid level variant, this sedan comes with equipped with some of the most significant safety functions. This sedan comes with an advanced ACE body structure, a structural design that maximizes the protection to the passenger compartment by diverting the collision energy. The list of other safety aspects include driver SRS airbag, anti lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution system, dual horn, an advanced engine immobilizer system, a rear windshield defogger, driver seatbelt reminder, key off reminder , day/night mirror, and a pinch guard safety for windows.
