Overview
Thumbs up to the smart and functional design of Endeavour, which looks more contemporary and impressive than the previous generations. Its not just the external look, but its interiors are also gracefully designed to give a plush feel when onboard. It ensures a comfortable ambiance to seven occupants and even provides them with amenities like a dual zone air conditioner, power outlets, multi information display, and many other such aspects. As for its highly efficient 2.2-litre motor, it delivers a great torque of 385Nm besides making 157.7bhp. On the other hand, it has the best safety standards that guarantee maximum passenger security. It carries driver and passenger airbags, engine immobilizer as well as traction control system to name a few.
Exterior
A special mention to its dimensions, which makes this machine look huge. At the same time, the manufacturer has also focused on its overall design, which does not look boxy like the earlier generations. It is smart and catches attention of on-lookers at the very first glance itself. At front, the large chrome treated radiator grille takes the center stage, while the blue oval shaped company's insignia emphasizes it further. Sleek headlight cluster featuring turn indicators surround this grille. On the well sculpted bumper, the rectangular shaped fog lamps look simply great, and there is also a skid plate fitted below it for added protection. Meanwhile, a side stepper, silver garnished roof rails and black B-pillars makes for an intriguing look. The side turn indicators do give a trendy touch to the plain design of outside rear view mirrors. This machine runs on a modish set of 18 inch alloy wheels that have 265/60 R18 sized tubeless tyres. Its strong wheel arches although, makes its rims look tad small. The thick chrome strip on its back door with the Endeavour tag remains the key highlight in its rear end. Wrap around tail lamps sit on either side of this strip, and just like in front, the rear bumper too gets a skid plate. A high mount stop lamp is seen here integrated to the sporty looking spoiler. The size of the windscreen is wide enough to provide a better view of the vehicles following it.
Interior
There is much more inside the cabin apart from the seven leather upholstered seats and abundant space. Its not just the surfaces and plastic materials, but each and every element looks superior in quality. Moreover, the attractive dual color scheme leaves its occupants with a good feel. On the dashboard, the steering wheel looks a bit large but decent with leather wrapping. Even the gear knob comes with fine quality leather upholstery. Vertical air vents sit at the center of the dashboard surrounding the touch screen audio unit, while two more AC vents are positioned on its either ends. High comfort giving seats additionally comes with folding facility in order to enhance the boot space further. Meanwhile, the driver gets an advantage of changing the position of the seat in eight different ways. On the other hand, the dual zone air conditioner with automatic climate control further increases the level of comfort. The air vents in the second and third rows ensure the cool air is spread evenly to the rear occupants as well. With audio switches and voice control functionality on the steering wheel, you can operate the music system with much ease. A total of ten speakers are fitted inside the cabin that gives the best sound output. Apart from these, there are also front sun visors, lockable glove box, front center armrest with storage, power operated windows, and cruise control function on the offer.
Performance
Diesel
What powers this mid range trim is a 2.2-litre oil burner that gives better fuel economy without compromising performance. This TDCi turbo diesel engine makes a maximum power of 157.7bhp at 3200rpm, while producing good torque of 385Nm between 1600 to 2500 rpm. A six speed automatic transmission gear box is paired to this four cylinder mill, which performs quite well. It can return a peak mileage of around 12.62 kmpl, while the minimum figure comes close to 9.3 Kmpl.
Ride & Handling
Handling is at the best with an electric power assisted steering column that is based on the pull-drift compensation technology. With this wheel on hand, the driver can maneuver the vehicle easily no matter how the road conditions are. Meanwhile, disc brakes on all its four wheels ensure exceptional performance besides increasing safety. In terms of suspension, the independent coil springs and anti roll bars makes helps in making the drive as comfortable as possible.
Safety
This Ford Endeavour 2.2 Trend AT 4X2 variant also fares well on the safety front. It carries significant elements like hill launch assist, electronic stability program and traction control system that keeps the vehicle stable and under control in all road conditions. Aside from these, aspects such as ABS with EBD and dual front airbags add to the security quotient.
Verdict
Being a mid range variant, this one does includes some impressive features that were absent in its previous generations. Going with its style, features list and engine performance, everything is good for this price range. This machine will definitely fit your requirements considering the above mentioned aspects. On the other hand, it also lacks a few elements which its rivals are offering (such as the navigation system in Hyundai Santa Fe). If, such attributes are not on your “required list” then, you can definitely think of going with this variant.
