6 Series 640d Design Pure Experience Review
India's luxury car maker, BMW has a number of splendid vehicles in their fleet, among them 6 Series Gran Coupe is probably the most luxurious vehicle built by the German automaker. It is being sold in two variants, out of which, BMW 6 Series 640d Design Pure Experience is the top end trim. It is powered by a 3.0-litre twin power turbo diesel engine, which is mated with an eight speed automatic transmission gear box. This vehicle takes only about 5.4 seconds to breach the 100 Kmph speed mark, which is quite remarkable for this class. It has the ability of churning out a maximum power and torque outputs of 313bhp and 630Nm respectively. It is integrated with a driving experience control system including four different modes like ECOPRO, Comfort, Comfort+ and Sport. These modes change the functionality of brakes, accelerator and transmission to improve the performance and fuel efficiency. The company has incorporated its internal cabin with a slew of sophisticated comfort features like BMW Head-up display, which projects the navigation instructions and current speed of the vehicle and a 'Night Vision' pedestrian recognition system featuring an infrared camera that reveals the objects up to 300 meters. Furthermore, the car maker has also incorporated an integral active steering system that allows the rear wheels to turn up to a maximum speed of three degrees, which eventually makes the driving simpler. However, the main highlight of this coupe is its sophisticated external appearance owing to its extremely sleek body structure. For giving it an alluring look, the manufacturer has given it a signature radiator grille, sleek bonnet, large windscreen with a set of rain sensing wipers and so on. This vehicle is placed against the likes of Jaguar XF, Audi A7 and Mercedes Benz S Class in the Indian automobile markets. On the other hand, it comes with a 2-year standard warranty period regardless of its mileage. At the same time, it also has a 12-year warranty period for its body work and three years for its paint.
Exteriors:

There is a small chrome plated strip placed beside the front wheel arch, which further adds to its stylish appeal. Its well molded wheel arches are fitted with an elegant set of start spoke alloy wheels, which have been covered with high performance tubeless radial tyres. At the same time, it has a lustrous rear profile featuring a large boot lid and radiant taillight cluster. Its bumper houses a pair of rectangular exhaust pipes, which gives it an urbane appeal.
Interiors:
Its cabin can easily accommodate four passengers and offer ample leg space along with head room. It is designed with extensive use of Dakota leather upholstery along with a lot of wood inserts. The most attractive aspect is its elegantly sculptured dashboard, which houses a large central console along with number of advanced equipments. It has a three spoke steering wheel, which is covered with premium dual tone leather upholstery. Not only this, it is also fitted with illuminated control switches for audio and call function. The large central console extends all the way from dashboard to the rear and is equipped with numerous advanced features. It houses an innovative BMW driving experience control system, gearshift lever, and a storage compartment. The seats are quite wide, well cushioned and provides excellent support all the way from head to the knees. The front seats have electrical adjustment facility along with lumbar support. The instrument cluster has four round shaped meters with trendy dials, which displays informatics like fuel levels, speedometer, tachometer and several other notification lamps.
Engine and Performance:
This variant is equipped with a 3.0-litre, in-line diesel engine under the bonnet, which comes with a displacement capacity of 2993cc. It comprises of six cylinders and receives fuel through the latest generation common rail direct fuel injection technology. Furthermore, it also has a multi stage turbocharging unit featuring variable turbine geometry. This enables the motor to churn out power and torque of 313bhp at 4400rpm and 630Nm between 1500 to 2500rpm respectively. This diesel mill is paired with a sophisticated 8-speed Steptronic sport automatic transmission gear box, which collaborates with BMW Driving Experience Control to provide excellent driving experience. It can deliver a decent fuel economy of in the range of 14 to 17.54 Kmpl. In addition to this, it also has an automatic start/stop button, which automatically switches off the engine when it is at standstill. Thereby, it reduces the fuel consumption while improving the efficiency.
Braking and Handling:
All the wheels are fitted with a set of internally vented brake disc brakes, which are further loaded with superior brake calipers. It is augmented by ABS along with electronic brake force distribution and also has electric parking brake with auto hold function, which collaborates with cornering braking system. Both its axles are assembled with dynamic damper control system with infinite and independent damping. On the other hand, the cabin is integrated with an electromechanical power steering system with servotronic steering assist, which is activated only when it is needed.
Comfort Features:
This trim is incorporated with an advanced cruise control system that features a braking function and speed limiter, which automatically deals with obstacles ahead and maintains a steady speed as set by the driver. The cockpit has two individual armrests, which has storage compartment. Its automatic air conditioning system comes with four zone climate control function including adjustable rear AC vents. In addition to these, it is also incorporated with smokers package, engine start/stop button, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function and roller sun blinds for rear and side windows.
