Octavia 2013-2017 Style Plus 1.8 TSI AT Review

Skoda Octavia Style Plus 1.8 TSI AT is the latest variant to be added in this model lineup. It has stunning looks and design elements that can lure any car enthusiast. Its front facade is highlighted by the bold radiator grille that has a chrome surround. Also, the luminous headlamps bring it an attractive look. On the sides, it has a set of 16 inch alloy wheels and electrically adjustable external mirrors with side turn indicators fitted to them. Moving to its rear end, it has LED tail lamps as well as an expressive boot lid with company's logo engraved on it. On the other hand, its interiors are decorated elegantly with a dual tone color scheme, while the touch-up of chrome on a few elements further adds to its classiness. The dashboard is smooth and houses several advanced equipments like leather wrapped steering wheel, instrument cluster and an infotainment system featuring various functions. Other aspects that ensure high comfort include Climatronic automatic air conditioner, tinted windows, reading lamps, foldable rear seat along with many storage spaces. In terms of safety, the list includes electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, engine immobilizer, airbags, and door open indicator to name a few.

Exteriors:

Its outer appearance is quite impressive and it comes with some noticeable aspects. At front, it has a large windscreen that has an automatic wiping system with rain sensors. The bonnet has crisp lines over it, whereas the headlight cluster is integrated with bi-xenon headlamps and turn indicators. This surrounds an aggressive radiator grille that has chrome surround. Just below this is a well sculpted bumper that is painted in body color and fitted with an air intake section. This is further flanked by a couple of bright fog lamps that have a corner function. Coming to its side profile, it has body colored handles, and outside rear view mirrors with side turn indicators fitted to it. Meanwhile, its flared up wheel arches are equipped with a modish set of 16 inch, Minoris alloy wheels that are covered with tubeless tyres of size 205/55 R16. The manufacturer has designed its rear end too in an exceptional manner. It has a pair of fog lamps equipped to its bumper and a wide windscreen with defogger. The tail gate looks pretty decent with firm's logo embossed on it. Other aspects like LED tail lamps, and a high mount stop lamp are present in its rear profile.

Interiors:

The plush internal section is one of the best things about this sedan, which gives a luxurious feel. The Onyx-Ivory color scheme and wood design décor on door panels makes it look distinctive. Moreover, the chrome accentuation on steering wheel, door handles, and instrument cluster dials adds to its appearance. The leather upholstered seats are well cushioned and integrated with adjustable headrests. The driver's seat additionally gets 12 way electrically adjustable facility, lumbar support, and three programmable memory functions. There are six load anchoring points present in the luggage compartment along with two foldable baggage hooks. Besides these, it also includes net storage below rear parcel shelf, cup holders, cooled glove box, ticket holder, textile floor mats, armrests and many more in the list.

Engine and Performance:

It is equipped with a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol motor, which can deliver a maximum power of 177.53bhp between 5100 to 6200rpm and a peak torque output of 250Nm in the range of 1250 to 5000rpm. This engine is based on a dual overhead camshaft valve system and runs on a direct injection fuel supply system. It holds a displacement capacity of 1798cc and has four in-line cylinders. All of this put together helps this sedan to generate a fuel economy of about 14.7 Kmpl under standard driving conditions. Also, it comes mated with a 7-speed automatic transmission gear box that enables easy gear shifts.

Braking and Handling:

Its front wheels are affixed with a set of disc brakes with inner cooling with single piston floating caliper. While the rear wheels are fitted with a pair of efficient disc brakes. An anti-lock braking system is incorporated along with electronic brake-force distribution and hydraulic brake assist, which further enhances this mechanism. For precise handling, there is electronic stability control, multi collision braking and hydraulic braking system readiness. It is bestowed with a minimum turning circle radius of 10.4 meters. This is possible owing to the direct rack and pinion steering with electro mechanic power steering system. Coming to its suspension part, the axle in the front is coupled to a McPherson with lower triangular links and torsion stabilizer. On the other hand, its rear axle has multi-element with one longitudinal and three traverse links with a torsion stabilizer.

Comfort Features:

Its panoramic electric sunroof has a bounce back system. The 12-way adjustable driver seat has memory functions to it. An advanced technology based infotainment system is integrated which has a screen with touch capacity and the display is of 5.8-inches LCD in color. This audio unit can support portable media players such as a USB and an Aux-In. The windows of all the doors, external mirrors and the sun roof can be opened and closed using a remote. A keyless entry is offered along with an entry and exist plus engine start/stop button as an added convenience. When the rear seat back is folded, the 590-litres storage capacity can be increased to 1580-litres.

Safety Features:

There is an engine immobilizer with a floating code to it that helps in detecting any unauthorized entry into the vehicle. The central infotainment system too has a security code for added advantage. Central locking is available to all the four doors along with the boot lid as well. There are high intensity based Bi-xenon headlamps that also have dynamic leveling. Then there are LED based taillights and daytime running lamps too. Both the front passengers have been given added protection in terms of dual airbags. Apart from these, both front and rear passengers also have side and curtain airbags. The instrument cluster is embedded with warnings for overrun speed and door-open. Apart from these, there is a fuel supply cut-off in a crash and child proof rear windows and door locks. Height adjustable seatbelts at front and rear with pre-tensioners are provided. High level third-brake light and an emergency triangle in the luggage compartment are added safety elements.
