July 03, 2017: Find out more about impact of GST on Ford Figo Aspire prices.

On April 17, 2017, Ford launched the Aspire Sports Edition in India. The Sports Edition Aspire comes with a retuned suspension setup for better handling and stability. Engine-transmission options remain same, and the Aspire Sports Edition comes with the 1.2-litre, 88PS petrol engine and the 1.5-litre, 100PS diesel. Both the engines are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Aspire Sports Edition gets cosmetic updates which include all-black interiors, smoked headlamps, black painted grille bars, side and rear decals and leather-wrapped steering wheel with grey stitching. The Aspire  Sports Edition is based on the Titanium variant of the regular Aspire. While the petrol version is priced at Rs 6.5 lakh, the diesel is priced at Rs 7.6 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Figo Aspire is Ford's first offering in the packed subcompact sedan segment which has models such as the Maruti Swift DZire, Honda Amaze and Tata Zest among others.

Fantastic car, good space, great pickup, control, etc, drove around 7000 kms till now, initially it used to give me around 12-13 kmpl mileage in city , but now around 16.5-16.8 in city from Navi Mumbai to Andheri sakinaka & back having good traffic. Worth buying this car, I recommend this.... 8

Ford Aspire review

Following up on the success of the EcoSport, Ford has decided to take a stab at the fast-moving compact sedan segment with the Figo Aspire. While it borrows its name from the old Figo hatchback which was a dream for those who love to drive, make no mistake, this is an India-specific model. It’s been designed to match the needs of efficiency, affordability, features and looks. It brings a lot of segment firsts and offers a lot for a variety of customers.

Things We Like in Aspire

  • Safety - dual airbags standard, 6 airbags on the top-spec.
  • 100PS diesel engine is frugal as well as fun to drive.
  • Styling – very well designed for a sub-4 metre sedan.

Things We Don't Like in Aspire

  • Interior quality could have been better.
  • Automatic not offered in the top-spec variant, thus misses out on some good-to-have features.
  • Petrol motor lacks punch. Weak highway performance.

Stand Out Features

  • 6 airbags is a segment benchmark. Not offered in some cars from price segments above.

6 airbags is a segment benchmark. Not offered in some cars from price segments above.

  • Ford MyKey: Programmable second key to set a speed limit; volume limit. Unique to the Aspire in its segment. Useful when you want to hand the car over to someone who’s just learnt how to drive.

CarDekho Verdict

The Ford Figo Aspire makes for a nice city commuter in its petrol guise and a great all-rounder in its diesel avatar. There are certain inconsistencies in quality both on the inside and out; but it isn’t a deal breaker in any manner. It’s a rare compact sedan that’s easy on the eyes and while it’s not a traditional Ford in terms of handling, it should be easy on the pocket in the real world too.

"Overall, the Figo offers good driveability, a long list of features, a good set of USPs and in many ways, undercuts cars that cost a lot more."

The petrol engines are refined and will lap up the city commutes with ease. If ‘fun to drive’ is a must-have on your checklist for the next car, the diesel is the one for you. Overall, the Figo offers good driveability, a long list of features, a good set of USPs and in many ways, undercuts cars that cost a lot more.
