Powering the Ertiga is the same 1.5-litre, K15B engine we first saw under the good of the Ciaz facelift. Paired with the second-generation SHVS (mild-hybrid), the engine promises enough pulling power without compromising on efficiency. Driven calmly, this motor returned 16.03kmpl on the highway, and 13.40kmpl inside the city. While it’s far off from the ARAI-certified 19.34kmpl, it’s acceptable for a large MPV with a 1.5-litre petrol motor. If there’s one thing the engine is exceedingly good at, it’s the sheer drivability. You can upshift your way to fifth gear without ever needing to press the accelerator. It’s the engine making sure there’s always enough of that 138Nm of torque at your disposal. You can slot the car in second gear and treat it as an automatic too if you wish. In heavy bumper-to-bumper traffic, we managed to get a clean pull from a standstill. Drive in a relaxed manner, and you wouldn’t really hear the engine for the most part. It works in the background silently, letting you enjoy the drive. But, it’d be nice if you don’t have to get somewhere in a hurry. That’s where the Ertiga feels expectedly out of its element. With the gears being stretched out to eke out every bit of efficiency, the engine takes its own sweet time to rev up. And, unlike the Ciaz that felt better insulated from the revving engine, the Ertiga makes a small racket, evidently expressing its displeasure. All said and done, you wouldn’t feel a lack of performance anywhere. It’s adequate, especially if you’re a calm driver. We think the Ertiga makes for a fantastic road trip companion too. It exhibits uncanny ease between 80 and 120kmph, chugging down miles without any hint of drama. On the other hand the automatic gearbox equipped option, despite having only four-speeds, manages to feel at ease while commuting. However, the tall ratios (1st - 60kmph, 2nd - 110kph; indicated) can make it feel a bit muddled at times as it goes up and down the gears to find the right response. When driven in a hurry it forces the engine to use all the revs to really get going. The lack of paddles or tap-to-shift of the gear lever means you can't control what the gearbox is up to. So, it is better to adapt and drive with grace. Do take a test drive for better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details. Approximate Service Cost for Maruti Ertiga in 5 year around Rs. 19,745. The maintenance cost of At variant would be a bit more but there won't be a big difference. These are the approximate figure excluding labour charges and GST. The price may vary as per the location and condition of the car. Moreover, you may contact to the nearest authorised service centre for the same as they will be the better person to assist you in this concern.

Maruti Ertiga scored a 3-Star safety rating in the GNCAP crash test. The Ertiga, even in its first generation, offered one of the better back seats (middle row) in the price range. There was ample legroom and headroom and the positioning of air vents on the roof was also perfect. The Ertiga, even in its first generation, offered one of the better back seats (middle row) in the price range. There was ample legroom and headroom and the positioning of air vents on the roof was also perfect. With Maruti Suzuki not lengthening the wheelbase, the feel in the second row of the new and old Ertiga is very similar, the only minor difference being a larger storage space in the door handle on each door that can stow a modern smartphone. Head into the third row and you immediately notice that there’s more legroom on offer. Push the middle row all the way back and there’s some space between the third and second row for your legs; this was not the case before. More importantly, adjusting the middle row (slide and recline) appropriately would mean that even an adult would be relatively comfortable in the third row in intercity commute. Additionally, the third row gets three levels of backrest recline, helping make the boot more usable. The maximum recline position is the most comfortable for rear seat passengers, but switching to the most upright position gives you a bit more luggage space, which can be particularly useful when cramming bags or just making enough space for the boot to close with a trolley bag at the back. The most upright position means a near-perpendicular seatback. Do take a test drive in order to get better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.
