This manufacturer of high-performance sports cars is based in Sweden and was founded in 1994 by Christian von Koenigsegg. Christian von Koenigsegg had always been fascinated with machinery as a boy. And it was this fascination that led him to dream about creating his perfect sports car. With extraordinary determination, Christian explored the limits of both, technology and innovation to create the car of his dreams, which was called the Koenigsegg CC. This manifestation of his dream in the form of a Koenigsegg car gave Christian the courage to continue. Thus, the car company that bears his name was born. However the company's first street-legal production car delivery did not happen until 2002. The delay is attributed to the years being devoted to research, development and prototyping. Today, Koenigsegg has a full R&D department with state-of-the-art equipment to call upon.
In 2002, Koenigsegg began series production of the Guinness World Record-holding CC8S model. As early as 2004 the Koenigsegg CC8S became a favourite of the most famous car critic in the world, Mr. Top Gear himself, Jeremy Clarkson. In 2005, the Koenigsegg CCR became the fastest production car in the world, beating the nine-year-old Guinness World Record set by the McLaren F1. In 2006, the Koenigsegg CCX took the Top Gear lap record with a time that wasn’t beaten for over two years. Though each Koenigsegg car has an obvious premium price, but the price becomes secondary considering the painstaking production of Koenigsegg cars by a select group of automotive geniuses, that ensures the delivery of highest possible standards via the cars. Koenigsegg has introduced and patented several new technologies over the years via Koenigsegg cars. To name a few are the ”rocket” catalytic converter, the supercharger response system and a variable geometry turbo system, to name but a few. Furthermore, several unique ways of using carbon fiber have been developed in-house, methods that make the car lighter, stronger and safer. The Koenigsegg CCXR was the first ‘green’ hypercar in the world, designed and calibrated to run on E85 and E100 biofuel, as well as normal gasoline.
Koenigsegg cars in India have been made available to its Indian enthusiasts through a company called Inter-globe Established Products. However, there is no dealer network or after sales service centres for Koenigsegg cars in India, which means that it offers extremely rare products.
Christian von Koenigsegg, the founder of the Swedish company established the company in 1994. Koenigsegg Automotive AB falls under the free traded Swedish Public Company. Koenigsegg is also indulged in ?green technology? development programs which involves the CCXR ("Flower Power") flexfuel supercar. Along with this Koegnigsegg is also involved in developing programs for plug-in electric cars' systems as well as next generation combustion engine technologies. Back in 2009 the company was listed under the top ten most beautiful cars in history by Forbes.
Christian von koenigsegg drew the initial design of Koenigsegg, he then showed his sketches to David Crafoord, the Industrial Designer. Thereon David took the responsibility of giving the fishing touch to the sketches made by Koenigsegg and rolled out the final design. The iconic Koenigsegg badge was crafted by Jacob Laftman in 1994. The Badge was based on shield of the Koenigsegg family. Shield has been the pride of the Koenigsegg family ever since one of the family member was knighted by the German based Holy Roman Empire back in the 12 century.
