Extremely reliable companion since more than a decade

Look and Style : Personal choice. I have personally never liked the quirky looks of the Santro. Comfort : Drive the car slowly over really big potholes and nobody will complain. However, the rear seats passengers can get a bit uncomfortable after spending a few hours on them. Pickup : You will feel much quicker than you actually are. The pickup is much better than its rivals. Mileage : It doesn't matter how new or old the car is. The mileage has always been a weak point of the Santro. I have never been satisfied with the mileage my car gives. I get around 8 kmpl with AC switched on in the city. Overall Experience : I've had my Santro since 2003. Its been driven for almost 95,000 kms and until now my car has broken down only twice. The first time was in 2006 when my car was randomly switching off. I got a regular service done at the Hyundai dealership and the problem never resurfaced again. The second time was in 2012 when I was unable to switch on my car. Even the roadside assistance were unable to switch it on by jumpstarting it. The car had to be towed to the workshop. The problem was one single electrical wire which had come lose. That's the kind of reliability you can expect from a Santro. One major concern of mine has been the authorized after sales service centres. The last time I got my car serviced was way back in 2010. The main and probably only reason of my having stopped visiting Hyundai after sales service centres was that whenever I did, they would call me after a few hours of my having given them my car and would ask me to replace a few things that were working absolutely fine until I gave them my car. Their favourite suggestion would be to replace the manual transmission oil. And that simply adds upto 4k (material + labour). Then they would ask me to overhaul my clutch, approximately 7k. Nowadays, every January, I get my car's oil, oil filter and air filter replaced. I've been doing this since 5 years now and have thankfully faced no issues. The car runs just as smoothly. And the mileage is just as bad as ever. Overall, a fantastic car I bought. No regrets.
