The city also boasts quality roads, flyovers and connecting expressways. Furthermore, the city houses nearby manufacturing facilities of Ford, Hyundai, Nissan/Renault and Royal Enfield to name a few. We dived into the car buying habit of the Chennai folks, lets roll you through it.
Chennai people has a different approach while selling their used cars which is the reason why used car in Chennai market are gaining popularity. The past decade saw nearly 95% increase in car ownership per family plus around 33% of people refrained using public transport. After analysis, it seems that there's a good used car market in Chennai with people changing cars frequently due to increasing maintenance cost. We had a talk with few dealerships across Chennai as per a Maruti dealer, they said that there's a ratio of 50:50 with half of the people changing their cars within 4 years to a new car and they usually prefer to change with Maruti's 'True Value' while others do not sell at all.
For the high end vehicles, dealers of Mercedes Benz, said they usually sell around 50-60 cars monthly, he added that most of the people exchange their old Merc with them. While the Audi dealership added that the Audi owners usually exchange their 'Four Rings' in three years and usually prefer Jubilant MotorWorks' for selling their used ones.
