Auto major Volkswagen plans to launch its compact and also luxurious SUV Volkswagen Tiguan in India. Volkswagen Tiguan is based on Audi A5 platform and much luxurious in its segment. Volkswagen Tiguan is the new entry into the ever growing small SUV segment for Volkswagen. Volkswagen Tiguan was first showcased at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, and was debuted as a 2008 model for Europe. Volkswagen India plans to launch Volkswagen Tiguan in by the mid of this year and to compete with other SUVs of this segment like of Honda CR-V, Ford Endeavour & the most awaiting Hyundai Santa Fe. The Volkswagen Tiguan price is not yet disclosed by the company but it is expected it will be priced around 20lacs.

Honda has launched the newer version of Honda City with some cosmetic changes at its interior and exterior. Honda has also launched two new variants Honda City V MT which is available with manual transmission gearbox and Honda City 1.5 V AT that is available with automatic transmission gearbox. The new version of this most popular sedan will carry stylish five spoke alloy wheels and fog lamps that adds more style to its exterior. There are two accessories packages Elegance and Inspire is also introduced with the car but for that you have to pay Rs 34,000 to Rs 38,000 extra.  The third-generation Honda City has started wooing the Indian auto lovers. The new Honda City is a luxurious sedan model that has lot of advanced features to offer to its potential buyers - new i-VTEC engine, new aerodynamic design, more grandeur, increased interior space, and of course, top-notch performance. Honda City has been well known as a prestigious brand in Indian market since its first launch in 1998 and it maintains a significant market share in its segment and its new model should taken its popularity to a much higher level. Japanese auto manufacturer, Honda Motor Co. has launched its luxurious hatchback model Honda Jazz in India on June 10, 2009 this year. Honda Jazz is the most eagerly awaited small car since Honda announced about its launch, being the first small car in Honda's product portfolio in India. Honda Jazz is a luxurious small car and is equipped with all luxurious features of a C-segment luxury sedan that leads Honda Jazz price wise a high end model. However, Honda used the Honda City platform to build this car for reducing the Honda Jazz price as the overall manufacturing cost would otherwise increase. The launch of Honda Jazz is the entry of Honda in the small car market in India and it will compete the other luxurious hatchback of this segment such as Skoda Fabia, Hyundai i20 and Chevrolet SRV.

Maruti Cervo Launch Date

It is expected that Maruti Cervo will be launched in the Indian auto market in the month of May or June 2010.

It is expected that the Maruti Cervo price will fall in the range of Rs 1.5 lacs to Rs 2 lacs.

India’s largest auto manufacturer, Maruti is planning to launch another small car model Maruti Cervo in entry level segment in the Indian auto market. Maruti is working aggressively to launch Maruti Cervo in Indian market as a counter attack to Tata Nano which has stormed the auto market with its ultra low cost. Maruti is a market leader for small car market but the launch of Tata Nano has affected heavily the sales of Maruti 800. It is expected that the Maruti Cervo will be priced in the range of Rs 1.5 to 2 lacs. To reduce its manufacturing cost Maruti Suzuki may reduce some features from the original model which is available in Japan. It is also expected that after the launch Maruti Cervo will overtake the company’s most popular models Maruti 800 and Maruti Alto.

Leading Italian auto manufacturer Fiat has launched its most awaited premium hatchback model Fiat Punto in the Indian market. Fiat Grande Punto has been launched in the Indian market as a joint venture between Italian passenger car manufacturer Fiat and Indian auto major Tata Motors. Fiat Punto is consistently performing well internationally since its first debut at Frankfurt Motor Show in 2005 and has won many awards such as "Car of the Year 2008" award in Brazil. Even on safety point of view, the Fiat Grande Punto has received a 5-Star rating in the stringent Euro NCAP safety tests. Now with the launch of this car in the Indian market, the company plans to strengthen its position in hatchback segment. Fiat Punto is the second vehicle that has been launched by FIAL (Fiat India Automobiles Ltd.). Fiat Punto has launched in the Indian market with three engine options - a 1.2L, 1172cc petrol engine, 1.4L, 1368cc, FIRE petrol engine and a 1.3L, 1248cc multijet turbo diesel engine.

Auto major Renault planning to launch its new hatchback Renault Sandero in India by 2010,  as a joint venture with Mahindra under the name Mahindra Renault. Mahindra Renault Sandero will be available in both petrol as well as diesel engine option. The petrol engine is likely to about 1200cc capacity and diesel engine is around 1500cc capacity. Mahindra Renault will use their Nashik based manufacturing plant to assemble the vehicles.
