The Skoda Rapid is available in market with its two engine variants: petrol and diesel. The diesel engine has a 1.6 litre TDi unit that makes 103bhp at 4400rpm with a 250Nm of maximum torque at 1500rpm to 2500rpm. At the same time the petrol version of the car with a 1.6 litre MPI unit makes 103bhp of power at 5250rpm but produces a different torque from the diesel version, i.e. of 153Nm at 3800rpm. This same engine is being used in Skoda Fabia and VW Polo. The 1.6 litre TDi unit abides the BSIV emission norms. The diesel engine has a five speed manual gearbox but the petrol version has a six speed transmission with Tiptronic manual gear changing option. But the 5-speed manual gearbox is also available in the petrol version. The Skoda Rapid runs on front wheel drive option. The turbocharged TDi unit of the vehicle is highly refined and the in-cabin insulation is really good. The car comprises of 5-spoke alloy wheels of size 185/60 R15.

The Skoda Rapid has a fresh, young, smart and clear-cut design which makes it a well-balanced car which is capable to fulfill the gap between Skoda Fabia and the current Skoda Laura. The exteriors of the vehicle have been designed keeping in view the expectations of Indians from sedan class car. The Skoda Rapid shares same platform with Volkswagen Vento but it incorporates some features which make it look different from the Vento. The headlamps are stretched which look similar to Fabia but are actually a bit varied and no panel has been divvied up with the Fabia. The headlamps that are swept back are aerodynamically designed with halogen lighting. The front grille resembles typical Skoda design face, while the horizontal forms making the Rapid feel the gravity. Skoda Rapid has a compact size so that it can easily maneuver through even the busiest streets of India.

The Skoda Rapid is a sedan class car which has been recently launched in India.  The car has power steering, power windows and remote trunk opener with remote fuel lid opener. Skoda has incorporated automatic climate control, air quality control, rear reading lamp and rear A/C vents in Rapid. Also the sedan comes with a  Low Fuel Warning system. The rear seats have  an adjustable headrest along with a centre arm rest. The other equipments in the interior of the car are vanity mirror with an accessory power outlet, front and rear cup holders. The front seat belts are adjustable in height. The car comes with the parking sensors incorporated. The Skoda Rapid has height and length adjustable steering column.

The Skoda Rapid was first launched in India in November 2011. The new Skoda Rapid is based on Skoda MissionL concept and will replace the current Skoda Laura/Octavia in present in the market. This new car will not be an entry-level sedan present in India and will be positioned much higher than it. The Volkswagen MQB platform has been used in the MissionL concept. This platform will be used in many upcoming cars ranging from Volkswagen UP! to the Audi A3. The Skoda India launched the Skoda Rapid of the C-Segment. The car is similar to the Volkswagen’s Vento. Even the engines of the two cars are same. The exteriors of the car  accentuates the looks and huge stretched headlamps make the car look more delightful. The interiors of the car are luxurious and classy giving a tough competition to its rivals present in India.
